Bump. Thinking about investing in an exercise bike, what are they like? Any good for the calorie burning?

Saw this one on Amazon and thought it was a resonable price:

What about a turbo trainer instead? And when the weather gets nice, you can get out there and enjoy it. Smaller to pack away, and less likely to turn onto a clothes horse.

Some quality advice for you all, if like me you get bored so you look for a snack, buy loads of bran flakes, and jus grab a bowl say while your sitting in front of the tele, dont add any milk, just eat them like they are crisps. You can eat billions all day long and there's barely anything in them. Got me through my cut :)

Exercise bikes are great, but you need to do 30mins a day every day. Couple that with a couple of hundred less calories than you need, and you'll piss it.

Apples are good - I ate one before every meal and lost 16 lbs

they also help to reduce your appetite - strangly though apple juice increases your appetite (and it tastes like cack)

I'm trying to trim away aroung 20 kg I gained after quitting smoking. So far so good.
Only turkey meat, lots of vegetables, less salt, NO SUGAR AT ALL, water all day long, apples and carrots as evening snacks.

Should consider rope skipping, frustrating to start with, but once you get going you burn calories by the hundreds and improve you stamina enormously.

Worked for me, although I did do a bit more than that.

In the last 10 weeks or so I've lost 1st 5lbs, I was 14st 4lb and wanted to be 12st something.

Running a few nights a week, drinking shit loads of water, a decent breakie and nothing between meals has got be down to 12st 13lbs today..I never went without fast food or fizzy drinks once or twice a week as well. Everything is moderation. I did lay off drink for weeks on end that helped a lot.

Just signing into this thread, nowt official yet like, not even weighed myself, just need to get rid of this belly I've had for God knows how long, so next summer I'll have no problems whipping my shirt off in the middle of the park come the sunny weather!

So far, bought a bike before I went on me jollies, done a six mile ride and then the day after probably double that before I left. Just got back into riding and must have done another 7-8 miles today.

Being really good with food as well, cut out snacks, would usually have a packet of crisps, chocolate biscuit between meals/before I went to bed, now just carry a bottle of water with me everywhere, and stick to the main meals. Even then, I find myself leaving some, when I'd usually be seen finishing off the plate.

Still a lot of work to do, maybe cutting down on meal portions some more, throwing in some fruit now and then, and going for healthier meals. Need to cut out the drink too, the end of the football season will hopefully help with that.

Best thing you can do is learn about the calorific value of what you put in, and what you exert. Understanding that will make it a lot easier to shift pounds. I can lose weight very quickly just knowing the facts. My only issues is when I don't bother and lose accountability.

Cheers matey. I think its now visible that I've lost weight, a couple have commented on it but I just want to get the first stone out of the way myself.

I'm in a similar position as you, pretty much the same weight when I started my diet. Down to roughly 13' 9 at the moment. Still have the odd takeaway but the amount of exercise have increased significantly and snacking is eliminated. Just hope I can keep going...

Saw this one on Amazon and thought it was a resonable price:

Bought one a while back, used it for three days, cycled 110 km in that time, ended up as a clothes horse. No doubt felt alot better after the cycle on it.

My hubby, the Resident Gooner, has been great. He's supported me, steered me away from all the food I crave but know is bad for me,he's even going on long walks and cooking dinners for me. :)

Here's hoping I've lost that pound I put back on last week, eh?

I'd be surprised if it was the full 3lb. Some of it will be bulk and water in your intestine. 1/2 of that 3lb will fly off when you cut back again.

And then the over half will come off when you have a massive post-easter poo.

I'm currently getting fit for a footy tournament due to take place in Portugal in June.

Currently training 4 times per week (one game of 5 a side footy and 3 trips to the gym involving 25 mins interval training on treadmill then an hour in the weights room and 10 mins stomach to finish).

Diet is:

Breakfast: Protein Shake
Snack (11am): Either 100g lean chicken OR unsalted mixed nuts OR babybel light cheese
Lunch: Chicken/Ham salad (no dressing)
Snack (3pm): unsalted mixed nuts OR babybel light cheese
Dinner: 150g meat (doesn't matter what meat) in some shape or form with 150g vegetables
Snack: (8pm): Fruit

Drink loads of water throughout the day and have totally cut out caffine so if I want to drink a hot drink it is green tea or decaffinated coffee.

week one lost 4lbs. week two lost a further 6lbs.

the first few days are tough to get through as hunger kicks in but results are worth it. will do this until mid-may - have a week off - then start again in the build up to the tournament mid-june.

Fillet steak for dinner (Easter treat). Surprisingly low in fat.

Had to forgo the chips though - substituted with sweer potato wedges. This healthy eating thing isn't too bad, y'know. Well, healthy-ish.
