Space/Astronomy in and around Liverpool?
« on: May 12, 2017, 01:29:26 pm »
Girlfriend's a big space nerd and I was looking on going some space/astronomy related places with her in a few weeks time. Aside from the Planetarium in the world museum and Spaceport in Wallasey, does anyone know of anywhere else nearby?

Do you have a car?

Jodrell bank is only down the road, about an hour away.

Liverpool Astronomical Society : https://liverpoolas.org/

John Moores have their astrophysics unit on Brownlow Hill.  There's a lot and nothing at the same time though, from the outside (all you'd be able to see) it's just a building.

to be honest Jodrell Bank is your best bet for a space-based day.

Last time I went there I saw masturbating chimpanzees. Whether you think that's worthy of £22 is up to you. All I'll say is I now have an annual pass.

Absolutely shocking that this thread has been up for 24 hours and no one has replied with 'uranus'.

Not been in use for years as an observatory, not been in use at all for nearly anything bar some oceanography I think for a little while either.
