From somebody that's been with him today : he's not on crutches, he's working with the physios and hopes to be back in roughly 4 weeks.
How the hell did a small cut on his ankle get this bad?  And what happened to the Chelsea return date then, another setback? :(

If he can get himself fully fit and stay fully fit for the January to May period, we'll be comfortably in the running for the top 4.

Shit.

Adam, Henderson, Spearing, Shelvey et al have massive boots to fill in the absence of Stevie and Lucas.

Just out of interest - what type of midfielder is Coady?

Take your time Stevie. No more rushing. Echo people saying get him back in Jan and play him like we would play Bellamy, (every other game, all crucial games etc) and get top 4. Easy. ;)

Or save the money and just play Henderson in the position he's looked most comfortable in and given his best performances.

Can Adam and Henderson handle a midfield just by themselves though? I don't think Henderson is as good a tackler as Lucas by quite a distance. Against teams with 3-man midfields especially I think they would get overpowered.
Then in the midddle out pops a smiling glen johnson pulling up his jersey to reveal a t-shirt of suarez with a text saying. "OUR SUAREZ IS A FRIEND TO ALL COLOURS!"

All I can say is, is that the only way we'll find out, is to try it.

They're good players in their own right so we, like Kenny, will have to show some faith in them. With the way we have started to look of late, perhaps the onus on having a defencive mid-fielder mightn't become as paramount seeing as we are starting to control and have more of the ball lately, and to be fair, in our next 6 games we should be playing on the front foot, not the back, so, theoretically that could, or would, give them enough time to develop some sort of understanding. And in the bigger picture, even though it's a set back to lose key players such as a Gerrard and a Lucas, that then opens the door to others to step up to the plate and gives them the opportunity to show what they can do.

These times, are the true test of our squad and whether has Kenny bought well or not, you could say these next few months will be as telling for Kenny more so than any others in his tenure.

Just need him back but like people say its time for others to step up to the plate, Henderson and Adam will need to up there games to cover for the loss of lucas.
Spearing and Jonjo when given a chance need to take  it.
Will be hard for these players to try and cover for our best player for the last season and our best player over the last ten years.

I can see Kenny trying that out at some point if necessery, but i put my faith in spearing, and i can see us playing a 3 man midfield with henderson and adam.

But im getting worried like most people about Gerrard, if he can play 30 games a season..

Loads of Joe allens out there.

I would like to see him stay at Swansea myself and see if he can have another decent season. He is a championship player - players like a championship player.

Martinez would be one of the first I could think of. Problem is could they play together.

I'd be absolutely amazed if we signed him. He's definitely out of our reach for the position we're in at this moment. And don't forget he's one of a very small group of players that would actually be an improvement on Lucas.
