Terrible co-commentator on the Fox sports stream I was subjected to came up this with load of crap:

"Maxi's positional sense is not as good as Downing's"

Dear Lord, please relieve us from morons such as Barry Horne, please?

Too under-rated. I'm really afraid we're just going to spend a lot only to replace him with someone inferior.

Bye Maxi, wish you all the best!
. We already did in downing. Don't think we could do any worse. No goals no assists in the league?

Maxi has been criminally under used due to favouritism

I hope he doesn't get used much though, when he doesn't score he's just mostly soooo anonymous

Most accurate passer according to LFC website...

1. Maxi Rodriguez - 90.6 per cent from 394 passes
2. Craig Bellamy - 88.6 per cent from 586 passes
3. Jay Spearing - 86 per cent from 828 passes
4. Lucas Leiva - 85.6 per cent from 687 passes
5. Stewart Downing - 85.4 per cent from 1,245 passes

I reckon 1243 of Downing's passes went backwards

boggles me mind why the top 2 arent played more often.

and for those who say hendo deserves a starting central position.. jay/lucas combo..still is the best we got.

Is it just me or does anyone else think he still has a big part to play in our immediate future under Rodgers?

Seems like a perfect player for his system, such a waste to simply discard.

Massively underrated and underused last season

Royhendo would probably be stoked to see both his pet players in the squad if we get Dempsey as well.

Id be amazed if hes still with us after the summer.

Yes he has good movement and decent vision but he has 0 defensive work ethic and goes missing ALOT. Two things which i dont think Rodgers will put up with especially the work ethic part, so many times he just left enrique dealing with the RB and RM against many teams. Dont see him staying and personally think our fans overrate him because he pops up with goals his overall game is not that great and hes a decent squad player for weaker teams.

Really?

I like Maxi and he was vastly underused last season.  But where would he fit in under Rodgers?

If Swansea are anything to go by he likes quick, direct and skillful wide players - that isn't really Maxi's game.

He'd had to be central and we have players like Gerrard, Suarez etc who are always going to get a free central role over Maxi.

I can't see him being here next season.

Pass and move players with decent technique like Maxi won't exactly be ushered out the door. However, I can't see Brendan assuring anyone of more playing time, especially someone who has a lot of competition for places. If Maxi gets offered first team football somewhere else, I don't see him staying.

Additionally, with no disrespect to him, he isn't anything overly special anymore. Just seems that way because he was actually able to finish a decent percentage of his chances over the last 2 seasons while our other players couldn't. He also kept his passing and positional play up to scratch. A player like that isn't too hard to find around Europe these days, hell we probably have one or two on our books as it is.

I'd be more amazed if some of our 'fans' actually understood what they're talking about.

He is also not afraid to get stuck in, winning 102 of his 197 possession duels and not to forget the 44 interceptions he has made.

Quote
Like Dirk Kuyt, Maxi is no stranger to hard work and puts in consistent passing and defencive performances, while creating a few attacking chances that have not been capitalized on, with a bit of luck these statistics could of had a very different look to them.

So he hasn't gone then ? Reading back on here you'd think he left in 2010. Just been scrolling back trying to work out were he'd gone ! He seems to me one of the better players that will fit into what BR is after, surely?

Would be great for him to stay but I don't see it. Of the aging players on high wages, Maxi is the one I most want to see remain after the transfer window closes. Stay one more season Maxi and then leave on a free with our blessing.

Well with Maxi also leaving and the knowledge of how Brendan likes to set his teams up, you'd expect us to do some business in the transfer market out wide, area's we've been crying out for young, talented and motivated players to come in for some time now. I can see at least one being brought in and perhaps Sterling taking on a more prominent role. That's not such a bad trade off assuming the one coming in, delivers.
