Missed this as working but what a result! From the snippets I was able to watch all I saw was Maro Itoje winning penalties at the ruck, he's an absolute monster in a Lions shirt.

Itoje is just a fantastic player. Really don’t want to see Elliot Daly again, he’s utter crap.

Lions bench too strong. Kept cranking it up on the Saffas, who faded.

Can't decide between Lawes and Itoje for MotM. Both absolutely enormous performances.

Very shocked Faletau hasn't even made the bench. I thought he'd have been the first name on the teamsheet. Adams can feel hard done by as well.

Vote of confidence from his national coach!

Scrappy game but the superior fitness told in the end I’d say. Got away with a couple but they would have been very self inflicted tries to concede. Always good to win the first Test.

Yup, fitness was the biggest single factor in a very scrappy game with too much box kicking for the purist.

Considering how poor the Lions were under those box kicks, they did well to turn it around. As others have said, Itoje was immense and Lawes was pretty good too, not least his lineout prowess.

Very pleased with the win, but it was a hard watch for those of us who like to see more of a running, passing game. Needless to say, against the Saffers that’s unlikely.

I think Jim Telfer must have been in the dressing room at half time.

Read an interview with Jeremy Davidson earlier where he said the Scots were fed up with Telfer in ‘97 because he was such a hard taskmaster but that the rest of them all loved him. Quoted a nice line from Telfer about Rob Wainwright -  “Wainwright you are like a lighthouse in the desert, brilliant but bloody useless”. 😂

Incidentally, Greenwood’s glaringly transparent role citing controversy and contention is both grating and tiresome. The pairing of him and Nigel Owen is a SKY creation, and typical of their M.O.

I wish they wouldn’t.

Watching it back - Greenwood seems to feel he HAS to talk all the time, simply no concept of the action speaking for itself, which is the sign of anyone decent

Great 2nd half from the Lions though, must of been some very good half time adjustments and altogether great fitness from the Lions, the Boks just fell off a cliff physically second half

There was a bit of controversy over the weekend that Rassie Erasmus - a busy Tweeter - was using a burner account named 'Jaco Johan' to take a pop at some refereeing decisions. (His real name is Johan, and the other Boks coach is Jacques (or Jaco) Neinaber.  Jaco Johan only ever tweeted about games where the Boks or previously Munster were involved in.

But after a few guys like Squidge Rugby called him out on it, he realised the game was up in a quite funny manner  :D

I do sometimes wonder if Telf gets commission every time this is used in a clip - he should do really eh?

Itoje is a real hero - what a phenomenal player.

Harsh on Price, thought he was one of the Lions best players after Itoje and Lawes.

Probably a bit early for Russell to be considered. Think he will start the last test, if the series is wrapped up, otherwise not sure he will see game time.

Hogg is a terrific attacking full back, but in games like these, where the high box kick is used so often, his weakness under the high ball, and overall defensive frailty, is a problem for the Lions.

Where has this myth that Hogg is weak in the air and defensively come from? He is excellent at both.

Pieter Steph Du Toit has to be withdrawn through injury. That's two of their big 3 back row beasts from the WC win out.

Another brutally tough test match, 6-3 Lions after 20.

Kolbe is a very very lucky man. He should be off, no disregard for Murray's landing and he landed on his head. Ridiculous
