Last 8 games of the season is pretty much as good as it can get.

I like how we get United early in the season, they won't be up to task that early with playing ETH football, 3rd win a row at OT could be on the cards.

"Since its purchase by the sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Manchester City has managed to cheat its way into the top echelon of European football and create a global, immensely profitable football empire, ignoring rules along the way. The club's newfound glory is rooted in lies."

City away in April again, really wish that was the first game of the season.

Impossible.

A top 4 team are not allowed to play a top 6 team in the 1st match of the season.

Its a brilliant away ground, in the summer, and against a team we should beat easily. As away games go you'd do well to pick a better one.

Does anyone know if the fixtures to November are all confirmed date wise? [as in they won't move for TV] or is just the first month confirmed for that?

Currently, it is just the first week.  2nd week of the season, every game is currently a 3pm Sat kick off - ditto the 3rd week

We have Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs away…..City at home after Champions League games.
Tough.

Depends. Arsenal will have played on the Thursday, so we'll have had 4 days to get ready, the other two it all depends and whether we get the Tuesday or Wednesday and who is home or away. They won't be looking at the fixtures thinking "great, we've got Liverpool after a European Game, piece of piss"

In the 8.5 weeks between September 6th and November 5th we play Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, West Ham and Spurs among the top 7 PL sides from last season + all 6 of our CL group games.

In the 14 weeks directly after (4 of them is WC) we only play Chelsea in the league among top 7 PL sides, zero CL games, and potentially 5 EFL cup games and 2 FA cup games.

Which period will we take most points per game?

We finished 8th in 15/16
Spurs finished 7th in 20/21

It's to do with league positions the season prior, not what is deemed the 'big 6'

Nah, City away would be a shocking start.

Do we nearly always get a newly promoted team first game, or just seems like that.?

It does seem to happen to us quite a lot, seems like we often drop points against them too.

Apart from a 3-3 draw at Watford in 17/18, we've won every opening day fixture since 2012/2013, when we lost 3-0 at West Brom in Rodgers's dιbut.

Just tried to place a 'novelty bet' at Ladbroke's. The bookie seemed amenable at first ("Yeah not a problem, what is it?") I said I wanted odds for Erik Ten Hag being sacked in the week following the 20th August 2022. He phoned up his central office to get odds and then gave me the bad news. They were no longer accepting bets on this. It was considered "a racing certainty".

Was going to guess at the famous 6-1 at Stoke in 2015 but think it’s a 1-1 at West Brom in 2017 when we tested a lot for the Europa final. Think Ibe scored.

Since then we’ve had Boro, Brighton, Wolves, Palace and Wolves.

Actually there’s one other away game last - Newcastle in 19/20. In front of no fans in deep July so all a bit weird.

was thinking the same.  that game is very important for him - and his players trying to impress him - but just a kickabout in the sun for us.  apart from giving the Asian fans a good show, we won't give a shit and highly unlikely any of our big guns will see much of the pitch.

Was definitely top 6.
Spurs were 7th in 20/21. No idea why Chelsea and United were granted to play unless it changed to top 4 then. Was articles about it in 2018 when TV bids were being put in and the details were leaked.

anyone looked at City's schedule?  I did a quick scan this morning and didn't see any place where they had tough games (ie top six teams) in quick succession.

whereas ours ...

October:
01/10/2022 — 15:00 Liverpool v Brighton
08/10/2022 — 15:00 Arsenal v Liverpool
15/10/2022 — 15:00 Liverpool v Manchester City
19/10/2022 — 20:00 Liverpool v West Ham United
22/10/2022 — 15:00 Nottingham Forest v Liverpool
29/10/2022 — 15:00 Liverpool v Leeds United

It's worse than that SamLad. If you look really closely you'll see they only play Spurs and Chelsea once but have three fixtures against both Bournemouth and Fulham. Plus a home tie v Brechin City.

West Ham aren't a top 6 side.

City have Arsenal A and Liverpool A consecutively, Chelsea A and United A consecutively, and if you want to include West Ham for us, they have West Ham H and Liverpool H consecutively.
