My Favourite Player #2 - Sami Hyypia
Zeb:
Cup of coffee and a piece by one of the scribes I most enjoy reading. Nice way to start the day.
That Manchester United match sort of summed up those years of professionalism and quality for me. Called into the team at the last minute for a fine performance. And then that beautiful control of the ball when he brought it down from the air. It was just everything which we'd come to expect from him distilled into one game. The only thing which was missing was a goal from a monstrously huge leap from a set piece.
As a representative of how a Liverpool player should behave, he's a model all young players can aspire to. Team before ego. And he did a lot away from the football pitch too.
Cpt_Reina:
That first touch when he plucked the ball out of the heavens at Old Trafford is amongst the best Ive seen from any Liverpool player, ever.
Dont seem to be able to locate it online but it is out there, as part of a MOTD analysis I think.
If anyone can find it, post it up.

Sami's also the only player Ive ever seen who put curl on a header. That one vs Arsenal. Amazing.
God's Left Peg:
Best defender we have had in the last twenty years quite comfortably for me. Like posters before me have said his professionalism was outstanding.
Hand over the captaincy to young Gerrard? No problem.
Step in at the last minute against united? Again no problem.
They were two of the most memorable examples but the reality is he showed his professionalism every time he stepped out onto the pitch. Wasn't the quickest, mind, but his reading of the game was class.
I had never heard of him when he signed. He could have been another Ferri for all I knew.
Would be in my personal best XI every time.
