The Bear is now on Disney+. Heard it's brilliant but not had a chance to watch it yet.

It's brilliant mate, kinda reminded me of uncut gems a bit but the characters are more likeable.

For anyone who might like a bit of nostalgia, all 7 series of The Dukes of Hazard are free on that freevee app.

Also the first 2 series of Auf Weidersen Pet are on the ITV hub.

Inside Man is worth a watch, because anything with both David Tennant and Stanley Tucci is worth a watch. Its good but you do have to suspend your disbelief for the 5-10mins of what happens for the main character to get himself into his predicament. Its a bit silly, but I guess worth it for the setup.

I think I'm kinda tired of the auteur-detective trope but I'm willing to forgive it for Tucci in this case  ;D

Its a lot better than the final season of Sherlock, that's for sure.

I thought it started brilliantly, but halfway through turned into something else, still very enjoyable though.

I really enjoyed Dolly Wells performance'

Has this finished now?

Yes

Inside Man was a bit tonally all over the place. It was mixing up some very serious stuff with genuine LOL moments - I especially like the way they shoe-horned Tennant saying "I'm the fucking vicar!" in each episode. But in the other hand:
Spoiler
No way did they earn the shock death of his wife
[close]

Overall, slightly disappointing in the end to be honest.

I feel exactly the same, Still liked it, but from ep3 onwards, It seemed to go to a different direction. Was it a dark comedy??

Inside Man was so stupid, hate watching characters make nonsensical decisions to help the plot along.

Just finished the Dahmer series. Grim. Think it covers the story pretty well. Interesting focus on his dad’s involvement throughout his life.

I thought it spent too long focussing on the sordid details of his pathetic life. But some of the side character stories were really well done and acted. Especially the 6th episode I think that focussed on the deaf victim. Was really heartbreaking

And yeah Richard Jenkins does a great job as his dad. I just wish it spent more time telling the victims stories rather than watching him jerk off to some roadkill or whatever.

Yeah. There's a balance and there is a very deliberate attempt to tell the victim's story with Ep6. However, I'm not sure more victim-based stuff would have helped tell the story of JD. While it's didn't sympathise with him, you were becoming emotionally invested in his journey and you have to remind yourself exactly what he is getting up to. His eventual demise was shown in a very visceral and violent manner, which I think was the 'payback' to show that he had it coming.

The best and most realistic feeling modern series of the genre by a large margin though for me was Le Bureau des Legendes, highly recommended.

Thanks for this, mate. I've been watching the past week and am onto the early stages of season three. It's excellent - really well written and acted and directed, the characters are great, and the tension has steadily gotten more and more pronounced. Really good stuff.

You're very welcome mate  :wave.

Yeah i agree the writing and acting is top notch and the series feels well..real.

Going into it myself didn't have many expectations except knowing Mathieu Kassowitz from before as the director of the imo wonderful La Haine, binged it once i started.

Re: War of the Worlds
I couldn't wait and downloaded the season (with French subtitles only) and watched it with the subtitles fed through google translate and corrected.

I thought it was pretty good, up to the standard of the previous seasons. I do like me some hard science-fiction (or towards the harder end, I don't know enough Quantum Mechanics to know if it was all nonsense)

Watched the first 4 episodes of The Old Man at the weekend on Disney. It's pretty good. Without giving anything away it ticks some of the stereotype Liam Neeson/Denzel angry older "trained" men boxes - which isn`t a bad thing for a TV series with Jeff Bridges.

I cannot wait for season 2, absolute brilliant show, John Lithgow was my favourite in it, the flashbacks were great as well.

There is a thread for it, but it's not well received from Rawkites who posted on it.

There are only 4 episodes released so far on disney + so far so will watch the rest when they're released. Agree on lithgow and generally the flashbacks are really well done. Tv that has that sort of thing generally have actors who look nothing like the older actors but in this they do - even the mannerisms in their voice

Would also like to add to the shouts for The Bear. Utterly brilliant

Binged my way through Bad Sisters over the last week on Apple, absolutely brilliant. Claes Bang may have been almost too good as JP, I don't think I'll be able to watch him in anything else as he was such a monster. Sharon Horgan is great, I know this is an adaptation, but she really put her own mark on it. It doesn't need a second season, it'd stand really well on its own, but I'd love to see those characaters again.

Was also not prepared to fall hopelessly in love with Bono's daughter.

Watching Night Sky at the moment, JK Simmons and Sissy Spacek are an old couple who have a portal to a deserted planet in their back yard, takes a while to get going but building up nicely with a few episodes to go.
