We taught the kids to play darts, played tennis in the rain, played pool, card games, brilliant time. Loved the water park days, but the laying by the pool days were a bit boring for once.

Not been to Cape Verde but know a few people who have been - all say there's not much there, there's no restaurants outside of the hotels, but the people are lovely and the hotels are great. There isn't a hospital on the island, which isn't something you necessarily think of, but it did put my missus off.

Barbados is on our to do list, thinking of going in 2024 with the kids

We had 4/7 solid days of sun to be fair.  2 cloudy but warm days.  The nearby waterpark on one of the hot days was amazing fun.  Just seeing my grandson happy playing in the hotel kids' pools was enough for me.  Him making little friends from Germany and Sweden was nice to see.  Even though they couldn't understand a word each other was saying, they seemed to enjoy it. :)

Re: Cape Verde.  Not too arsed about leaving the hotel, to be honest.  I guess that's why CV is quite cheap.  Just want a nice AI resort, chill by the pool, a few different restaurants, lots of cocktails, and any half-decent evening entertainment.    But that's all I need during the November International break.  Only 6 hr flight to CV too.

Also, we've been to Barbados.  Absolutely loved it, and totally recommend it.   Spent a day at the racetrack there and met Englebert Humperdinck.  Good bloke. :)

Bing Crosby was a prick:
Garrison Savannah? :D

Think that’s was the horse track in Barbados was called? Which was the name of a horse I backed to win the Grand National once (think it had won the Good Cup) and then the name made sense.

Yeah, that's it. Was trying to remember the name myself.

Bottles of Ice cold Banks beer, watching the racing in the sun, Great day.

Cape Verde will be brilliant for you then, from all I've been told by people who have been there, it has everything you are looking for.

My two used to make friends, like you say, no communication but just played. Now they just stick together, they disappear for ages at the water park, then come and get us to do some rides with them.

Yes, it's Garrison Savannah. We went past it lots of times on the way to other resorts and Bridgetown. The race horse was the first thing I thought of when I saw the name of the place.  :)
