Changes have been announced to Europe's qualifying criteria for the next Ryder Cup in France next year.

Captain Thomas Bjorn will have four rather than the previous three wildcard picks.

Tournaments in the latter half of the season will also carry weighted points, to make it more likely that in-form players will qualify for the team.

yes often thought over such a long period of time to qualify you ended up with out of form players - the other option i suppose is have qualification over a shorter period rather than weighting the latter tournaments but swings and roundabouts.

I'm not as convinced about giving an extra captains pick. for me that leads to favouritism rather than in form players (Westwood over Knox)

I don't think Bjorn would make that kind of mistake. That was Clarke picking his mate over a very inform player.
