Still a bit of improving to do but I'm confident he'll add to the team straight away, and if Klopp can work some magic he could be absolutely class.

Glad we finally have a natural wide forward for Klopp's system. (The "Reus-role," I guess.) We needed it badly last season. I reckon he'll get 15+ goals and 8+ assists this season with a full preseason under Klopp.

Origi / Sturridge

Coutinho Firmino Mane

In theory it looks very good (going with Origi for now): aerial presence in Origi, Firmino supporting; hold up strength and good pace in both Origi and Mane; all 4 have a measure of skill and 1 v 1 ability with Mane the most potent, the standout.

Man if it clicks in reality.....

Get that one orchestrator in midfield and there's real hope for next season, even if we end up accommodating Moreno. Replace him too and it's impossible to be negative about anything. At least before a ball is kicked!

Wish him all the best and hope he settles in quickly. I won't be on his case if the goal don't start flying in. My biggest fear is we've bought another player who's biggest achievement was playing well against our defence like that's any real challenge. I still have nightmares about Stewart Downing.

The only player who was providing us with any width at all last season was moreno. I am glad that we have someone in the attack to do that now.

I think he fits what we need really well. Couldn't say the same about Benteke even though he's a good player too. A top class CM and a LB and we're ready to go.

I'm with you. I might be happy if we sell Benteke at the same price, cause he only scored 2 less and played much less. That lad shouldn't be a bargain for any PL club.

Couldn't agree more. In my opinion, Hector would be perfect solution for LB and Hamšik/Nainggolan/Vidal for CM. Maybe we should give one more chance to Balotelli (I'd rather sell him to some Chinese club) and I'm hoping that Benteke will be also sold.

This 'inconsistent' thing is absolutely weird as fuck.

He's been 22 and 23 years old in his 2 seasons at Southampton. Of course he is inconsistent. If he wasn't he'd be at Bayern Munich.

We're getting the lad who has just turned 24 now with a track record of scoring 1 in 3 from attacking midfield positions. This is the time in his career when he steps up those numbers and irons out those inconsistencies and goes from being 1 in 3 to potentially 1 in 2 and if you have a 1 in 2 wide man then you are looking at a £50m player.

The Senegal international today finalised a switch to Anfield from Southampton, where he scored 25 goals in 75 appearances during a two-year stay – including four strikes against the Reds last season.

Mane first caught Klopp’s eye at the 2012 Olympics football tournament as his country reached the quarter-finals, and the German continued to follow the forward’s progress as he impressed for Red Bull Salzburg and then the Saints.

Now the 24-year-old will enter the next stage of his career with Liverpool, and the boss is eager
Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “I have followed Sadio for a lot of years since his impressive performances in the Olympics in 2012, and then watched his development in Austria and in his time at Southampton.

“Since I came here I have spoken to the staff a lot about him and have always felt he could be a very good signing for us. He has a lot of quality, works hard and has a very good goalscoring record.

“When I spoke to him I could tell that he was passionate about joining the club and playing for our fantastic fans. I think they will be just as excited about seeing him put on a Liverpool shirt as I am.

“It is great that we have managed to sign him so he can work with us from the first day of pre-season.”

I can't recall the last signing the club made that just makes as perfect sense as this one does. Maybe Clyne last year. In terms of player type he's exactly what the club needs, he's young, he's been doing it for two years already in a similar system against the same level of competition.

Maybe he isn't the absolute best player the club could have signed at the fee touted. But it's about the eleven right players and not necessarily the best, and Mane as a missing piece I think can elevate he attack to be even greater than the sum of its parts. Any unease I might feel about Mane's supposed inconsistency or the constant Southampton purchases is quelled by the fact that Klopp was getting the best out of a number of players here and Mane fits the attack's biggest weakness like a glove.

Liked Mane at Southampton but I do think 30 mil is expensive but if he delivers it'll be worth it like every transfer. It's 30 not 38.5 mil!
