I've a shocking cold and the after effects of RT but I'll make the bench if we're short.
If you've ever seen some of the mods, we're well short.

Hope the treatment is going well FP(well, as well as it can be) and really hope thats the last you have to deal with any of it all.

Liverpool's Coutinho, Johnson, Allen and Cissokho set to return to training

Injured quartet could even be in contention to play for Champions League hopefuls at Newcastle on Saturday

Liverpool have been offered a timely boost to their Champions League charge.

Boss Brendan Rodgers has been given the perfect pick-me-up to the Reds' growing top-four hopes with the return of four key players to first team action.

England star Glen Johnson, Brazilian Philippe Coutinho, new signing Aly Cissokho and Wales midfielder Joe Allen are all due back in training this week as the Reds prepare for a two-month Premier League programme that will define their ambition for the rest of the season.

Samba star Coutinho is seen as a crucial component in Liverpool’s system, and he is set for an early return after successfully undergoing surgery on a shoulder he damaged against Swansea in mid-September.

Likewise Johnson, who is already back in training, after being sidelined since limping out of the win over Manchester United at the start of last month.

The return of the influential duo couldn’t be better timed, with a tough run of games including Arsenal, Everton, Tottenham, City and Chelsea to come before the New Year.

All four players could even be vying for selection for this weekend’s visit to Newcastle, with Johnson and Cissokho back on the training ground and Coutinho well ahead of schedule.

Allen is eager for a return after picking up an hamstring injury in August.

He said: “I’m almost there. The plan is a good few days [training] leading up to Newcastle and hopefully I’ll be available.”

France international Cissokho, a season-long loanee from Spanish side Valencia, lasted just 10 minutes of his home debut in the League Cup win over Notts County after picking up an ankle injury.

Rodgers confirned he is now ready to make an impact, along with the others.

“Aly has trained and he should be fine and fit for the Newcastle game, and likewise Joe. Glen’s out on the field and hopefully after the international break he’ll be ready to come back,” he said.

Coutinho is quite possibly the most important player though, as Liverpool look to maintain the flying start which has taken them to the top of the table.

The Brazilian said this week: “The surgery was a success, and I’ll be back soon.”

The biggest problem anywhere in the world is that people's perceptions of reality are filtered through the screening mesh of what they want, and do not want, to be true.

What a great headache Rogers will have once we have a fully fit squad

Rodgers has a headache? Fucks sake, just when we thought we were getting close to an injury free squad.
We are Liverpool!

I hear you - why jinx it. Would nice to have some experienced options on the bench though and a system change up our sleeves.

Let's all just pray that Suarez never picks up a combined toothache and ear-infection.

I fear that his head may just explode.

Seriously though - Great news all round.  Especially regarding Coutinho and Johnson, and I can't wait to see what Cissokho can do for us when he gets to play more than 10 minutes.

P Coutinho.......Shoulder Injury...........26th Oct 13
G Johnson.......High Ankle Sprain........26th Oct 13
A Cissokho......Ankle/Foot Injury.........19th Oct 13
J Allen............Hamstring Injury..........19th Oct 13

The only long term injury we have is Coates and the fitness worry over Kelly, besides that everyone looks to be on course to be in contention for the West Brom game!

Will be extremely interesting to see the starting 11 when everyone's back fit and ready. Will BR persevere with the 3 at the back or will will see a return to 4 - 2 - 2 - 2 / 4 - 2 - 3 - 1 ??

Rodgers: Quartet to return at Newcastle

17th Oct 2013

Brendan Rodgers today declared that Liverpool will travel to Newcastle on Saturday bolstered by their 'strongest squad' of the season so far.

The Reds boss expects his selection options to be boosted by the availability of fit-again trio Glen Johnson, Joe Allen and Aly Cissokho.

Rodgers told his pre-match press conference at Melwood: "We'll arrive with our strongest squad of the season against Newcastle.

"They haven't played games, but they've been training now for the last few weeks.

"Glen Johnson will be back. Joe Allen will be back. Cissokho will be back.

"As I said, this will be the strongest available squad we've had this season."

Rodgers' squad is further enhanced by the return of Lucas Leiva following a one-match suspension against Crystal Palace last time out.

The manager added: "Lucas will come back into the squad. He's another player who has shown his worth and he's got himself back into the Brazil squad.

"We've got a number of players here who are developing and improving in their careers, and he's one of them.

"The likes of Lucas will come back into the squad and, as I've said, it's the strongest squad I've had since the beginning of the season."

One man who won't be making the journey to the north east is Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian is still undergoing his recovery from shoulder surgery in September.

"He's working with the physiologists on the field," said Rodgers. "He's looking very good, but still not strong enough yet to join the training group."

Good news, that.

Imagine Lucas and maybe Johnson will come into the starting 11, with Cissokho and Allen onto the bench.

With Coutinho, hopefully he can train with the reserves soon and from the halfway point of next week he will be in with the first team again getting ready for the West Brom game.
It's hard enough remembering my opinions without remembering my reasons for them.

Would we keep the 3-5-1-2 if Johnson returns, or resort to a central back 4? I personally think Johnson would excel in our current formation at right wing back.

Think Johnson will do well at wingback. Cissokho as well once he's fully fit. I'm eager to see these 2 at wingback and Coutinho at CAM in a few weeks time. Think that'll be our best side.

Kind of hoping Coutinho gets a runout for the U21's in his recovery like Cissokho, just to see him toying with those inexperienced defenders.

Just to confirm Aspas has torn his thigh muscle NOT ruptured his rectum. Will be out until late Nov/early Dec

Not true. He's probably torn his Rectus Femoris, which most medical staff shorten to Rec Fem, and there has probably been a translation issue between his limited understanding of English.
