I think he's definitely in the conversation for our best player this season so far. Consistency-wise, I think he is.

I just fear he is playing too much football (as is Gini), given their International football schedule too.

I would rest both against Atlanta for that reason.

What a left back. Best in the world no doubt. Best attacking left back I've seen in the PL ever. He's very good defensively too which is sweet.

He is a machine on a mission this season (like Gini). His assist for Jota's goal was just glorious. He seems to get better, more mature all the time.

BUT he needs a rest soon.

You can't really replicate Robertson, I can't see it from Tsimikas anyway. The thing is there are many skilled and fast left backs in the world, but what drives Robertson is his personality. His innate intelligence and wit allows him to take responsibility, be self deprecating, and still have the arrogance, the fire and swagger to not only drive himself but also his teammates forward. It's very unique, and it allows him to be the one that knits the group together on a different line compared to Henderson or Van Dijk, for example. It's something that honestly I think doesn't come from analytics, but it seems to me Edwards and co. do much more than just crunch the numbers.

I think he's much more suited to be the next captain of our team as opposed to VVD, for example, but that's just my opinion.

Anyone catch the YT stuff about his book and his charity AR26? (all the proceeds from his book go to the charity’s coffers). Worth watching, because he is the best example of what that old cliche ‘role model’ should, but doesn’t always, mean.

He exemplifies what Shanks stood for - I think it’s pretty safe to say he’s got socialist principles running through his veins.

Another example of how Jurgen only wants decent guys in the squad. He is certainly one of the best left backs I have seen playing for us, on a par with my other top two Emlyn and Steve Nichol (although Steve despite talking shite these days was also a top right back and midfielder).

I'm not sure I agree with this entirely. There are lots of high performing individuals in the world who have apprentices, and younger people who try to emulate them. Footballers are no different. I don't think that Robbo has any particular secret gift in terms of footballing technique or ability that others players can't have. He's got a great attitude, has worked very hard at the technical and tactical side of the game, and areas where he was deficient and deserves to be called one of the best full backs around. There's no reason that other players with the right attitude can't achieve exactly the same thing with hard work and perseverance, under the right supervision.

We haven't seen a lot of Kostas yet but I think generally JK brings in players with the right mentality first and foremost. I'd be very confident that the scouting department saw something of great value in Kostas and he's just going to have to bide his time and take the opportunities that he gets. There will be chances, as we have seen the schedule is packed and we can't sustain this kind of high performance as well as our high octane gameplan with just 11-12 players. He'll definitely play more games and he'll get his chances to impress. Fingers crossed that he can do a steady job as our backup LB

I was expecting the worst when he went down and had to strap up his ankle but he battled on without any problem, so fair play to him.

Hopefully he can rest it now until the weekend and it won't keep him out of any games as we really need him at the moment.

Tsimikas was excellent against Traore in the EL last season.

As ever it feels a cumulative issue. If you just thought Robbo needs a rest and you could bring Tsimikas into a settled back 4 I’d have no issues at all. But he’d probably come in alongside Matip, Phillips and Williams (if Fab plays in CM as had been mooted). Does that then become riskier? So de we ask Robbo to give us one more game?

It’s really tough. You could keep Fab at CB but then you might need to give Gini one more game in the middle and he’s probably in even more need of a break than Robbo.

Amen. Salah too maybe, and Jota deserves a shout, but I would be very much behind Robbo on this one too. He's been great in pretty much every game.
