Topic: The Decisions, Decisions Draft - Derby Day Edition - Group Phase - Matchday 1

Welcome to RAWK's Derby Day draft. Each drafter was tasked with building a team in their own image by picking their choice of players to have played in some of football's most fiercely contested derby matches.

Please judge the following matches on which team you believe would be best equipped to win over a 90 minute game of football, rather than on individuals -

Those are four very tight games. Especially those first two. Really struggled to choose between them. They've got strengths and weaknesses in areas that would make them exciting games I think. That first one is a goalfest whereas the second one looks really tight. Be interesting to see who comes out on top.

Loving the matchup between Maradona vs Passarella in the third game.

Some very interesting match ups, and some being decided imo based on the quality of defending. Particularly in that first match. The pace of Ronaldo and Overmars, and the tenacity of Suarez, would have Vidic and Ceontrao in fits.

Agree with the sentiment that this is difficult to choose.

Two comments.

First, I think, initially, two teams hard done by (Viva and Gerry) have two fantastic teams.  The midfield for Viva is exquisite to go with blunt force and grace in the attacking third.   And Gerry's balance all across the pitch would do very well if all our teams were in a league to play.  Smart management by both these blokes that is not reflected in the votes at present.

But, Sheer and Mikey have some heavily loaded attacking teams.  Two teams with an attacking 4 that would put shivers in their opponents.  Well out to all of you! 

Secondly, make sure to thank Mikey and Betts for making this draft so much fun. Two Jedi warriors of the draft.
