I think he was right to point out that Richarlison takes it a step further by faking a serious injury several times a game, rather than simply trying to win fouls. He's in a class of his own.

I agree that Thiago and Curtis offer a marginal improvement on Gini. The problem is that the match officials may eventually spot the fact that we are playing with 12 players.

For me he was probably our best player second half. When he's up for it he's one of our best players and if you look over the last few years I think it's fair to say that when we've looked at our best he's been involved. That said, if the issue with his contract is to do with money and not simply him wanting a new challenge I think the club are making the right call. Gini best player in second half? I’m all for everyone having different opinions, but really? What did he do?
I think he was awful. I’d have put Jones in before him all day long. Gini’s time at Liverpool is up and he’s playing like it. This was one of the biggest games of his career and he just didn’t seem arsed.

Totally agree about him being the captain, he shouldn’t be anywhere near the arm band as I don’t think he’s the most motivational player on the pitch. There are several others on the pitch who deserve it ahead of him. TAA, Salah, Fab, Ali. He seems too quiet and his heart is obviously elsewhere now.

Personally I'm glad he's moving on. I had the same opinion when Emre Can left and I remember a lot of opposition to that on here. Would have preferred if we got a fee for him of course but I think him leaving will make us a better team. You can't deny that in big games against big teams he's always been tremendous at home but he's almost always anonymous in away games. Too many sideway/back balls slowing us down.

That was the biggest problem for us in the first half. Nobody were on their toes. Too many times players didn't even attempt to block the passing lanes or stick a leg out for an interception. Either they're knackered or not bothered.

Their third was just bizarre - we had 8 guys around the box and they had 3, and still they walked past us. No aggression, no desire, no concentration - its just mind boogling the amount of times we jst switch off completely. This should not be possible from a throw in. I'm by no means Wijnaldum's biggest fan this season, but I think it's harsh to criticise him there. There's more than enough players around the ball to deal with that situation, I'm not sure throwing someone else into the mix improves the end result. 

He's marking space there, if he'd left it they could just as easily have cut the ball back to someone running in and they score.

He’ll be leaving a legend but he should have left us with even more memories of attacking contributions and elevated himself to be thought of as even better footballer.

Yesterday showed the best and worst of him. First half he was as lost as the rest, there was a moment he was linking up with Robertson, and he took it out wide, Robbo moved inside into loads of space that Gini had created, and then there was a simple pass to him and he managed to under hit it and gift to to Kroos to set up their counter. So frustrating and he has done that so many time during this bad run. Yet in the second half once or twice he showed how good he can be at retaining the ball and getting away from a press giving the others much more time on the ball once he lays it off.

Agreed he’s got everything. The power, pace, dribbling ability and ball retention under pressure but his self belief is the thing that lets him down the most. He’s scared to try anything in case he loses the ball. You see him take on a man or rolls a player perfectly to start a counter once every couple of game and that shows he’s clearly got the ability to do it on a more regular basis but chooses not to.

The picture has been cropped unfortunately (or maybe deliberately) although you do get a glimpse of the Madrid player that Wijnaldum was keeping tabs on. He didn't appear to be moving and if he had moved you'd have seen Gini move too. I'm not quite sure what you think Gini should have been doing instead? Moving towards the ball perhaps? If he had there's no guarantee the result would have been any different. There were enough Liverpool defenders there to deal with the situation as it was. All Wijnaldum would have done would have been to vacate an important space on the edge of the box and allow the (barely glimpsed, but most definitely there) Real player to move towards the box in absolutely oceans of space, waiting for a cut back.

The person who made this video and produced the original comment doesn't know what he's on about. Like I said before his football instincts seem to go back to the school playground. Everybody move towards the ball!
