Its not Henry’s money, its the clubs money.

They decide at the end of the day. Klopp has confirmed this so many times.

The price hasn’t really changed, but other things have. For one, we can’t guarantee CL football and that may be a factor. And two, the club seem to have woken up to the scale of what needs to be done to the rest of the squad. So it wouldn’t be surprising if they’ve decided that £110m+ on Bellingham may not be right… or that he’s decided he doesn’t want to come anymore.

All those reasons for me are not sensible and show absolutely shite decision making from all concerned. If the club felt that all we needed was one midfielder then they are mad and thats even last summer. Also they knew this in January, why didnt they go for a midfielder then?

They have junked a whole season for this guy. Its stupid enough if he chooses elsewhere but if we actively pull out of the deal then frankly someone needs a kicking.

How can the expected price put us off? We have known this was going to be the case for ages.

I said all last summer on here the fee for Bellingham will explode, we won't pay it and we're writing this season off for nothing.

The muddled thinking at the club is just ridiculous.

I’ll be sick if he goes to City but much less so if he goes to Madrid and we wisely bring in 3+ midfielders this summer with the funds that were ‘allocated’ for him.

I’ll be sick for a different reason if we don’t get him and also screw this summer up by not bringing in enough reinforcements.
You cannot call overseas Liverpool supporters glory hunters. We’ve won one trophy this decade. If they’re glory hunters, they’re really bad ones. They’re actually journey hunters. It’s the journey and the story. Something about Liverpool has grabbed them." - Neil Atkinson (May, 2019)

It’s an odd stance.

Anything can happen in football (he could get injured).

Can’t say I am overly fussed as long as we invest in players.

:lmao ... I might as well do it...

David Ornstein

@David_Ornstein
🚨 As things stand, Liverpool increasingly unlikely to sign Jude Bellingham this summer. Expected price & financial power of rivals puts #LFC hopes in doubt. Pursuit not off & no firm decisions but sense is #MCFC + #RMFC in stronger position
@TheAthleticFC

 :lmao Let's start our next 2 year admiration and charm offensive pursuit over a player then.

The spending in (PL) football certainly is absurd and us living within our means is a sound policy,trouble is not one of our rivals is adhering to it and spending little more than Everton and little less than Spurs on transfers over the last 5 years is starting to show now.

We need to do too much this summer to have the luxury of spending whatever money we have on one player (as a direct result of general negligence and underinvestment in previous years).

The irony is waiting on Bellingham will probably cost us CL football next season (may still scrape 4th) and then the budget is cut even more.

We could get Bellingham but the sticking point is always going to be paying the fee required. Particularly given we need several other signings as well. If we weren't so complacent every year, we'd have the squad where we need it and then could afford to just buy Bellingham.

This was embarrassing though - the fee shouldn’t be a surprise.

Yep, we are so getting left behind , the likes of City are on another planet to us now , get ready for another 50m net window no idea how that fixes all our problems.

I don't blame any player for not joining us, nothing screams ambitious about the club anymore. I feel for Klopp, how many times are FSG going to tie his hands behind his back hoping for miracles.

Years or underinvestment is why we are such a broken mess now , even the structure of the club has fallen apart with key personnel leaving this is no easy fix.

A total fucking embarrassment. I don't care that we're not signing him, I care that we've completely neglected an area of the squad to not sign other players because of this absurd dance we've done with him. If we signed 2 players for less than half what Bellingham goes for (so 2x 30m players) but did it last summer or the summer before we wouldnt be in this cringe inducing mess. A total shitshow from a club intent on sliding back to mediocrity despite every advantage it worked so hard to gain.
3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.

Anything else is negligent.

Lol it’s not that.

We’ve been after Bellingham for like 3 years now and suddenly act surprised he will cost a lot of money. If he chose someone else over us for footballing reasons fair enough, but because we ‘can’t afford it’ isn’t good enough.

We might actually have some money to spend if our policy wasn't to let quality players run down their deals instead of trying to move them on earlier.

Ox, Keita and Bobby all kept for this season instead of being moved on or resigned two years ago.

Not at all, and the whole piece is basically his opinon based on this "source"

"It does not mean their pursuit is off and no firm decisions have been made, although sources with knowledge of the matter think City and Real Madrid are in stronger positions at the moment."

Who could be basically anyone, it's along the same lines as the Daily Fail quoting themselves as sources.
