It's a sad day when young lads in their prime can't walk the streets in broad daylight without having to arm themselves with sledgies for fear of being attacked by the likes of mad bastards like that.

Talking of burglars , reminds me of one of the lads back home..not the brightest, he got burgled and he came to the pub gutted, i asked what they took  and says just the video player, i said thats not too fucking bad considering...yeah , but i stash all me cash under it, they had that too...  the burglar must have pissed themselves when they picked up the video , as i said ..not the brightest of lads.

I had a mate had his car nicked, real wreck it was, when they found it there was a hammer in the back seat. He ended up a hammer better off after having his car robbed.

Fuck me, the Iberian comment just gave me a flashback.
Going to  Barcelona in the 80`s on an Iberian plane
and somewhere up in the sky a trolley dolly takes
something into the cockpit.
The pilot in the right hand seat had his feet up on
the dashboard, small cigar in one hand, coffee in another
and a newspaper balanced on his knees!

He's more likely to be the first officer in the right hand seat...the pilot sits on the left.  Although talking to a mate of mine last year who's a pilot with Paddy Planes (the low cost airline that drops you off 300 miles from where you want to go to save money)  both the pilot and co-pilot often think up daft games just to keep both of them awake cos the autopilot does 95% of the flying.

Booked your holiday for the summer yet!?!? ;)

Ah Terry, the man of the moment  ;)  what an experience you've had today, were you nervous about what they'd ask or did you already know the questions?

I still  shit myself, this was after a delay taking off,
no getting to the end of the runway and get the
engines up to full speed and then let the brakes off.
They were speeding up before getting to the take -
off place, did a sharp left turn with engines roaring
and we away we went.
All expenses  paid for by the Spanish Chamber of
Commerce, first class flight, taxi to my hotel,
me in jeans, black leather bomber jacket and
sports bag as the taxi stops outside the Ritz hotel
in Barcelona and the hotel flunkie opens the taxi door,
picks up my bag as if it was a turd. Looks at me, he was
about 6`6, top hat red flunkie coat with lots of gold braid etc.
I am 5`7 and a scruff, but over a long weekend, guess who
had breakfast on the next table every morning, the one and
only Charles Aznavour. Miserable bastard, said to him the
first morning, "Bon jour Charles", he looked at me like I was
a turd, I seem to have this effect on people.

He  was still a miserable ####, I was taken out on the
Saturday night by a client, wined and dined and then
taken out to a theatre. Me rather rat arsed,
Spanish comedian comes into the audience and picks
on some people in the front row, turns out they were
from London, my client tells me he starts ripping them
apart in Spanish  for the audience who were wetting
themselves laughing.
But what I couldn`t get my head round was a girl
walks on stage, about 6 feet tall with just a black
top hat and very big high heels on, otherwise
completely naked. She then proceeds to get fully
dressed to stripper music, walking off stage in a
trench coat!

Vic,
I have arthritis in my neck and shoulders turning them is
very difficult so tend to type in short lines.
At 5`7" and a scruff, being a male escort was not my thing.

In your travels did you get to Madrid much, especially
Joy Eslava night club?

No mate I didn't get to Madrid for any social stuff but I worked for a mate who had about 5 car showrooms on the Costa Blanca, in his advertising he said that if anybody spotted a car that they liked and it wasn't in their local showroom then give the office a call and the car would be at his local showroom within two hours. That was my job, driving up and down the Costa, I bloody loved it. Occasionally we would take a few cars to the auctions in Madrid but we didn't touch the city centre, we would also take cars to San Sebastion, mostly right hookers to go to England and be sold there.

Sorry to hear about the arthritis mate, fucking sore isn't it, I have global arthritis in both knees, aaah the joys of football.

My arthritis comes from butting people, too small to fight proper
now on tablets and have to inject myself twice a week.

Joy Eslava in Madrid was a huge old theatre with dance
floor and then three open floors, bronze, silver and gold
for the rich looking down on the dance floor.
It opened at 8pm, went through til 1am when it was closed
for a quick clean and re-stock the bars, re-opened at 2am and
went through until 7am.
Famous for it`s tranvestites!

I've only been dropping in and out of rawk the last wk or so as the news about SB really7 taken the edge of it all if I'm honest

but scanning the last couple of pages from what I can gather Terry sang 'She' on LFC,tv

is it on you tube?

Nice link on the side there too. From 1963 'Can The Beatles make a lasting impression in showbusiness?'
Yeah, spotted all the Beatle stuff at the side.
I'll enjoy watching that, cheers mate.

I can't wait to show my Mar, she loved that fella who used sing the light opera, whenever we went to town she'd stand and listen to him 'He's got that sweetness that Mario Lanza had', she'd say. Me Dad reckons he knew him, had a big telly break sorted and turned up pissed.

I remember him - used to sing in Church Street or down by the Playhouse - where the LFC shop is now. He had a massive voice, but I think you're right, he liked a drink and sadly blew his big chance.

He was better than the bugger with the bagpipes, and yes I know he was usually collecting for charity but what a bloody racket!

No problem - that BBC archive site is a real treasure. The other day they linked to footage of Churchill's funeral, which might sound morbid, but was fascinating. Just some of the panoramic shots of 60s London and the whole atmosphere. There's all kinds of interviews on there, if you click 'people'. You could waste hours there. I have.
Looks like I chose the wrong day to feed the pigeons...
