It's been pulled already lol - demand too high it sems!

From windowsteamblog

Due to very heavy traffic we're seeing as a result of interest in the Windows 7 Beta, we are adding some additional infrastructure support to the Microsoft.com properties before we post the public beta. We want to ensure customers have the best possible experience when downloading the beta, and I'll be posting here again soon once the beta goes live. Stay tuned! We are excited that you are excited!

Ive downloaded my copy via a direct link, just have to wait for it to go back up to get a key I guess.

I'm guessing that would have been seen that they are endorsing piracy in some manner by going the torrent directioin, maybe not but that's what I would think.

Also there's no guarantee you'd get the real thing on a torrent.

How low a spec will this run on?  I've got a spare pc that's running a basic P4 2.4Ghz, about 1Gb ram and a quite old graphics card (Nvidia I think).   Might give it a try on there and see how it runs, rather on this pc.

Hmmm, I downloaded the file, burnt the ISO to disc and then booted uo from DOS.  All was fine but when it started to install, it said there was a setup file missing......

Not sure what I can do to recover it? Maybe burn again :-\

Happened to me too, same error. I tried downloading the file again, burning it again.. and it happened again.

However... I eventually downloaded it from another site. Same filename and filesize so I was expecting the worst but that time it worked. Would tell you the link but I don't have it to hand at the moment.. Might be able to get it tonight. It was through rapidshare anyhow.

Another thing I've read people say is to burn it at a slower speed (x4 for example).

I like the fact you can select multiple desktop wallpapers and set them to change every 1min/2mins/1hour/1day e.t.c and everything in between.  Keeps things nice and fresh.

Did Vista have that?  There was never an option to change the background like this in Vista.

It will 'simply' stop working 30 days after installation if you don't have a product key and activate the product.

You can reset the activation period a further 3 times (if you know how) extending your usage to a maximum of 120 days. To achieve the maximum you will need to make sure you do this on day 30 of each period; which is a big pain in the arse.

Apart from the gap between 2000 and XP, isn't it always about 2 years?

To be honest, if you look at XP. It was off the back of a not so well received 2000, and XP was a cracker. Vista is the same, still a good product, but not well received, and has had its problems. Roll in Windows 7 as quickly as possible, and it'll be a cracker like XP.

You have to love Microsoft. They do have a tendency to get people to pay for testing their product.

I know, I meant when they release something like Me or Vista, people pay, com-plain and they just release another one not long after fixing a load of the complaints.

with so many configs etc etc you are always going to have issues with something as complex as windows

i'm sure if MS only had to write stuff for a  few dozen or so bits of hardware they'd have very little issues with new releases like Apple do

Right chaps; can anyone tell me how can I set this up to dual boot with XP? I'll use a separate drive for Windows 7 so no partitioning needed, I don't think. But I've never set up a dual boot system before so assume I'm an idiot :)

run setup, point at partitioned space on separate drive, the end.
