Pair that are driving you crazy
Jun 26 2008 by Joe Riley, Liverpool Echo
I OFFER the perfect solution in the cosmetic pre-season partnership between quarrelsome and much-loathed Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
Go into showbiz as the Crazy Gang Mark II (and I’m not talking about a retro take-over at Wimbledon FC).
But rather as dead ringers for the archaic royal favourites and singing comic duo Chesney Allen and Bud Flanagan.
We still know Bud for the signature song to those ubiquitous telly repeats of Dad’s Army - Who Do You Think You Are Kidding, Mr Hitler?
Only difference being Dad’s Army is popular, and Hicks and Gillett are not.
Still, having spent £220m acquiring a football team as no more than a bit of overseas speculation, they should be able to bear losses on their first CD, tracks to include:
Breaking Up Is (Not) Hard To Do
Don’t Leave Me This Way
D.I.V.O.R.C.E.
