Didn't they say this was happening last year when they bought Lucasfilm?

Can't really say I'm all that bothered, due to a number of massive layoffs there over the last few years, it's not even the same studio that made Monkey Island, Grim Fandango and X-Wing V TIE Fighter.

Been a few too many games like Star Wars Kinect, Force Unleashed and Mercenaries 2 in recent years.  Sucks about 1313, but that's hardly a Star Wars specific idea, so someone else could always make it.

Also, Lucasarts can have a massive "fuck you" from me for playing their part in the downfall of Free Radical.

Fucks sake. 1313 is gone and any hope of Battlefront 3 with it.Twats.
Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.

Depressing news. Some of my favourite games ever came from LucasArts and they were great for quality productions.

No surprise there.

Disney have got in the biggest experts in squeezing every possible penny out of people.

But it means that Disney could open the door for other old Lucasarts  games to be licenced

A Day of the Tentacle HD special edition along with a series of Star wars games were in production (with some nearly 80% with QA complete) at the time of Lucasarts closure

Does make a sad read for anyone who is involved in the games industry

So what was discussed last night? X Factor, Strictly come dancing, I'm a Celeb? No

A less than 5 min mention of 'Monkey Island' on a small documentary on one of the less popular TV channels on a Saturday night trended in the UK on Twitter.

The rest of the documentary was pretty crap. A brush over gaming history in 2 hours. But You didn't see Call of Duty or GTA trend. It was Monkey Island.

Forgot to mention but its still relevant.

Amy Henning, previously working under Naughty Dog, a leading director/producer/writer for the Uncharted series, got headhunted by EA and is now working on a Star Wars game for them. My guess is that EA saw that people actually wanted a game like 1313 and decided to get someone to make them a new game of that type, so they went for the best ;D

A HD remastered Grim Fandango for PS4 and Vita.

An instant buy for me.

That Darth Maul game probably didn't have quite as much work go into it as it would first appear. It looks identical to the Force Unleashed but with Darth Maul instead of Starkiller or whatever his fucking name was.

Holy fuck that is amazing! I didn't see it coming in a million years. One of my favourite games of all time. Hope it comes to PC eventually so I can play it again.

Just last week Double Fine posted a video of Tim playing though the original for the first time since it was released, it brought back so many memories.

LucasArts shall never truly die.

It could be bombarded, utterly irradiated with jaded dollar-grasping evil from the Disney boardroom execs - and totally abandoned (along with all reason) by the very same mad twisted emperor himself who'd brought it into the world - until it looked like a shrunken charred husk, until it seemingly ceased to exist on this plane of reality... but still it lives on, just somewhere else.  8)

I'd like to play Grim Fandango as I missed it when it first came out. I remember a year or two ago, the lead creator of the game was talking about the games's puzzles (on his blog?) and he was surprised just how insanely difficult/twisted some of them were when he was looking at them again.

The example he walked through was just so complicated and so many unlikely elements needed made me wonder if I'd be able to finish the game. It made the ones in Monkey Island 2 seem positively simple in comparison.

Would still play it for sure if it comes out on PC but I suspect I'd probably be needing help from a guide if I ever wanted to finish it!

Yeah, some of them require a lot of lateral thinking (or more often then not, patience + trial and error).. Publishers are usually terrified of those things these days because they assume people will just switch off and play something else. Schafer's most recent game, Broken Age, was way easier. It will be interesting to see if they feel obliged to throw in a hints system or something.

The only way anyone has ever been able to play Sam and Max hit the Road in the last 10-15 years legally is digging out your old floppy disk or hoping and praying that your old CD-ROM version isn't scratched.

Even then you've needed SCUMMVM or DOSBOX in order to emulate it.

Not any more

http://www.gog.com/ are selling Sam and Max, Indiana jones and the fate of atlantis, X-wing and tie-fighter on their website in all their original glory. DRM free and with some cool extras.

They also promise more releases so maybe expect DOTT to make its way out there at some point.

Lets build that fanbase back up
