Personally I hate cats, I can't see the attraction in having one. They are lazy, good for nothing little cretins

Dogs on the other hand are the business if you ask me

Dogs, don't mind cats but there know where near as good as dogs.

Wild big cats are great to watch tho and find them fascinating.

Except for eliminating vermin, insects and keeping said away from the area they inhabit forever. We live near a rail line - and years ago all the neighbours had cats. You never saw a vole or a mouse or a rat. Over recent years the number of cats dwindled and we started getting mice. Then we started regularly seeing rats - which got larger and larger.

We now have two cats and after the twenty or so mice and a few rats (Not to mention the odd surprised looking pigeon and other various bird life) - we (And our neighbours have not seen a rat, mouse or related for two years).

One of the neighbours was saying he didn't like cats and saw ours in his garden, but after he realised that he now didn't have rats in his garden any more was more than happy to let them wander. The other neighbour on the other side has reported that the rats and mice infesting his garage have all now gone.

Cats when they wander about leave a scent that is repulsive to vermin - which move elsewhere.

So - if you like vermin and don't like cats - you'll be a happy man as you'll be getting all the vermin moving from cat inhabited areas.

I like them both really. But if I was going to choose between the two I'd have to go for the dog. I mean anything that can lick it's own bollocks is up there in my eyes.

Seriously though, I can not think of a single reason why someone would want a cat, other than to stroke the dirty little furry fuckers. I mean, you dont walk a cat do you? I guess you could but you'ld look like a dick. If you throw something they wont run after it. They wont go in the water if you take them to the beach.

You can feed them all you like but they never appreciate you. If someone broke into your house all they would be treated to is a little miaow as they strolled off with your new HD TV. If there are any cat lovers on here, please explain the attraction for me, I just dont see it

Cats are fantastic. Dogs are annoying little shits that never shut up and slobber all over the place. They fucking stink, need far too much attention.

Dogs are better for protection obviously, but that's negated by the fact that the bastards can turn at any second and rip an innocent person's face off.

Cats clean themselves, know where the toilet is, look cuter, smell better and live longer.

Hard choice, i've had both for my whole life, at the moment i have 2 cats.
People saying that they arent affectionate or loyal are wrong, my 2 cats are very loving and loyal and very entertaining too, to the point where they become annoying wanting to play and chase and fuck about at all hours of the day and night.

Dogs are good, but they need to be constantly walked for miles each day(if you dont then its just fucking cruel, people definately shouldnt have dogs that they cant take out for PROPER walks every single day). you have to clean up dog shit after them, they fucking stink. And they're a bit like kids, your own are ok and you love them to bits, but others peoples just fucking annoy you. I hate going to my mates house cos the dog if fucking hyper and farts the place out and wont sit still for a minute, i have to pretend to be allergic to it for them to get it out for a few minutes. Treat it like a fucking baby. You dont get this problem with cats.

But when i go on holiday (in the UK) or for days out etc i really really miss having a dog. I love border collies and would get another one tmw if i had the room and time to look after it.

Currently for me, cats egde it but only cos they fit into my lifestyle. If i lived in the countryside somewhere no doubt i would have a few dogs as well as the cats

ps "studies" show that more intelligent people opt for cats.

Shows how much you know about cats. One of ours runs after things and bring it back. Both show appreciation all the time -and both are very affectionate little things - but both are rescue cats - found in a cardboard box in Tubrook without a mum - and hand reared at Freshfields Animal Rescue.
