Il forno on Duke Street… it’s been one of my faves for years 🥰

Went there last week when down for 4 days, very nice.
Thanks for the heads up.

First visit to Mowgli for yonks.

Went to the Castle St one had had a great night. Food is still ace, I’m glad to say. Place still has a good busy vibe, and dining area is really nice.

Particularly enjoyed the Goan fish curry and the temple dhal.

A shout out for the Refreshment Rooms at Rock Ferry.

We stopped off there on the way back from the game on Sunday. Had the small pork roast. Superb. Best roast dinner I've had in a long time. And fantastic value.

I think this could be a regular post match stop-off!

So I guess you’re looking for a load of vegan or vegetarian places.

So I guess you’re looking for a load of vegan or vegetarian places.

Not necessarily, most places seem to do decent vegetarian, I'll have a peruse... almost every place has a token veggie dish or not. Haha, that seems the vegeterian lifestyle... get a menu, four pages long, and the only ones you can have are the little dishes with a (V) next to them

Though if there's great vegetarian or vegan places I'd go meat-free for a change (I must be in love)

Sanskruti is a defo.

Liv organic at bottom of Bold St is fantastic but more of a cafe style for a casual lunch than an evening meal out.

The egg in Newington is great too.

And Mowgli and Yukti have great veggie and vegan options on their menus.

Miller and Carter in Aughton yesterday for their Sunday offer of 3 courses for £37.

Good value, but some extra charges apply if you have one of the better cuts of steak.

Food was nice, but the steak wasn’t a patch on the one we had last week in Antonio’s.

Service was a bit hit and miss. The staff are very nice but very young, and there wasn’t enough of them on. When we arrived at the “wait here to be seated” desk, there was one couple already waiting. Took them a good five minutes to make any sort of appearance and by that time there were three couples waiting behind us in the line.

Halfway through our meal a table of about 12 arrived, and that just messed everything up because the staff numbers meant they just didn’t have the bods available to serve people in good time. We waited about 15 mins for a round of drinks to turn up. When it came to dessert, we told the young lad not to worry about serving us until he was ready - poor fella was running round like a blue arse fly.

They were very nice, and very apologetic, and they shouldn’t have been put in that position - wasn’t their fault at all.

Overall I’d give it a 6.5 - 7. Decent food, reasonably priced, and nice staff. Just not quite enough of them.

First visit to Amalia recently.

Loved it.

Staff were great, food was excellent and reasonably priced, and the restaurant itself was very pleasant with a great atmosphere.

Defo be going back soon.

Can’t believe how I’ve never got around to going there before.

Went back to Pinion for first time in a while.

The menu has changed a lot - serving much more straightforward pub grub type stuff.
Still fantastic quality food though, and good to see it so busy on a Thursday night. It was full of theatregoers - It’s great what that Shakespeare place has done for Prescot.

4 of us had 2 courses, with a bottle of very nice Viognier, and a couple of craft beers. Came to £40 a head which is good value considering how good the food is.

They offer a pre theatre reduced menu of 2 courses for £21, if you fancy that instead.

Great place, still highly recommended.

Rudy's - great pizza, does remind me of past Italy jaunts. They ID'd the missus :D

Fritto - authentic little Italian street food place on Smithdown, had a calzone. Is good when the other people in there are speaking Italian
https://fritto.org/

Manna - Authentic chinese on Smithdown but it's dead cheap, 6.50-7.50 for any main with meat or veg is below a lot of other places

Yanni's tradish fish n chips - only had cheesy chips but this was a bangin little chippy

Another visit to Antonio’s in Knowsley village.

The food is bloody epic.

The steaks are absolutely superb - great quality meat, beautifully cooked.

Rest of the menu is excellent too - never had a bad dish there, it really is surprisingly good. Way better than Pinion.

First visit to Dale St Kitchen for breakfast.

Fantastic place. One of the nicest full English I’ve had. Sneaking a peek at other peoples food indicates that the eggs benny looks epic, the pancakes look mega too.

Nice friendly staff, nice little room and very nice coffee.

Defo going back.

Watch out though - it’s walk ins only. We had an appointment in town so got there before 9 when it was nice and quiet. Went past again a couple of hours later and there was a line of about ten people outside waiting for a table.

Can see why, like. The food is boss.

Nord is the 4th current Liverpool City Centre restaurant to it's way into the Michelin guide - https://nordrestaurant.co.uk/

This is located on the ground floor of the Plaza Building.  I work on the 8th floor when I go into the office.  It looks very good.

Grabbed a menu yesterday morning and been taking a look.  As hinted by the name of the place, the food seems to be UK/Scandi fusion. Source many of their ingredients from local businesses.

The Head Chef is apparently a scouse lad called Daniel Heffy.

Might get my missus to come in and meet me after work one night and give it a go.

Has Anyone been? Any recommendations from the menu?

Went last year on a Saturday and it was good. We went mid Afternoon and it was fairly quiet - I think this is more to do with where it is. I can imagine it packed on like a Thursday night. Part of the issue is where do you go for a pint afterwards! Think we ended up in the Cross Keys and it was as expected - pony. Ended up walking down to Jenny's

Food was good - some dishes obviously better than others but it was good quality food. It's nice that the food is local and they explain where the ingredients comes from etc. Wine list was really good. It's a place for a nice meal, but wasn't blown away by it.

I think they've started doing a roast and we have been meaning to try that

Noticed Trattoria 51 the other day.  Looks nice from the outside.  Is it decent as far as Italians go?

Also,  didn't know about the Cross Keys.  Looks ideal for a quick pint after work.  So cheers.

Finally, there's Gino D'acampo 360 Skybar along that stretch.  Bloke does my head in on telly but that's not to say his food isn't worth trying. Anyone?

Something a bit different that I've taken from Death Row Diners on Instagram

Pick a Starter, Main, Dessert, and drink from a different restaurant/bar in town

Starter
Buffalo wings from Free State Kitchen

Main
Chickpea Palak with Peshwari Naan and pilau rice from Sanskruti

Dessert
Waffle cone from Midnight Delivery in the Baltic Market

Drink
Smoked Old fashioned from The Oracle

Found the Cross Keys a bit noisy.

The 360 Skybar is worth it for a drink after a slap up Italian meal after Trat 51. Only downside to the 360 is the full on view of the Bitterdome.

Took my dad to Elif on Lark Lane last week. Still great value for the lunch time menu.

Think the new restaurant on Castle Street is due to open soon as well.

Chickpea Palak with Peshwari Naan and pilau rice from Sanskruti

The chickpea palak is by far my favourite curry from Sanskruti so far. Ringan no oro is really nice too, and I'm not usually a fan of aubergines.

According to their Instagram, they've put pav bhaji back to the menu. No idea why they got rid of it in the first place, it's one of the best things I've tasted from there.
