It's from 'A Night On The Town' (1976) which is right at the end of Rod's good period (the tail off starts with the preceding couple of albums 'Atlantic Crossing' and 'Smiler' though each, while inconsistent, have some really really good stuff on them.)
Produced by Tom Dowd who certainly knows how to make a fantastic sounding record - one of the unheralded heroes of music in my book - produced things like 'For What It's Worth' by Buffalo Springfield, engineered 'Giant Steps' and more of John Coltrane's stuff, Mingus, Ornette Coleman, Toots & The Maytals, Herbie Mann, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Dr. John, Terry Reid's 'River', Willie Nelson's excellent 'Phases & Stages' and 'Shotgun Willie', basically if you were on Atlantic and good, chances are you got him in to do the business. Incredible discography.
And the Allman's Live at the Filmore East.
Making great musicians sound even better. The guy was a genius.
