My issue with Sound City is the way the ticketing works. If i get a wristband or whatever it is, i would do it because there are specific bands i want to see, but as far as i can tell it's all first come first served - which means if a band i want to see is on late in a venue i would end up spending half the night in there just to be sure i'm getting in, potentially missing other stuff elsewhere.

Yep - heard similar , so luck of the draw if you chance it . Not sure what the overall capacity oof the venues is compared to wristbands sold , but your solution is the only safe one if it's a band you really want to see !

Yeah it's a shame but it's probably enough to put me off, or at least it has been in previous years.

Hardly ever been locked out and have been going since the first one, but then maybe I just go for the smaller gigs...  basically there is so much on that it is pointless getting hung up about missing one band.  And if there is someone you really must see then go and see the band before them.  That'll be enough to ensure you're in (in my experience anyway)

I got a couple of free wristbands to this a couple of years ago after winning a competition in the Echo. I saw a few bands but to be honest didn't really make the effort that I should have done to see more. I regretted it and I might buy one this year and get myself out there over the 3 days and see a load.

Can't ever remember it being an issue, most of the gaffs stroll in, stroll out. I think the cathedral ones were full last year but people were still getting in and out.

Wouldn't let it get me down anyway, boss few nights, every year. It is what makes it unique

Yeah, only one I saw completely full was The 1975, but it was the The 1975 so you're hardly missing anything are you? Also remember Thee Oh Sees rammed but that was a few mins before they were on.  I guess the point I'm trying to make is if there's someone you desperately want to see you'll turn up with a bit of time to spare - if not there's about 12 other bands on at the same time so it's not an issue!

Quite fancying going to see The Hold Steady (and any other bands which are playing around that time), any idea if they'll do day tickets at some point? As much as I'd love all 3 days, I probably won't be able to get the whole weekend off.

Now I reckon The Hold Steady at the Kaz will be a lock out like Thee Oh Sees. Hope I get to see them as I missed out on TOS last year due to prioritising seeing Unknown Mortal Orchestra over getting in handy. Don't regret it mind as I went to see Temples in Leaf instead who we're good

Anyone got any codes for this?

Gonna get the 3 day ticket but thought I'd throw it out there?

Kodaline & Albert Hammond Jr should be good but no doubt there will be plenty of talent on display

I don't know to be honest, just thought I'd throw it out there as I saw a section on the ticket site, thought I'd see if the good people of RAWK could help a brother out

Planning on getting these at the weekend either way

Looks like I may be left with 2 tickets for this - 2 no. 3 day wristbands .

Cost over £ 60.00 quid each if you buy now online - will do a good deal if anyone interested ( just send a PM ) .

Living in London now but went to the full three days of this last year, including the conference with work, and it was all brilliant couldn't recommend it highly enough and it's all ran brilliantly.

Highlight for me was Walkmen in the cathedral so I'd recommend a show there for anyone who hasn't been.

Second that Fat White Family shout too, and Royal Blood - them two can muster some serious noise.

Enjoy chaps.

The Hold Steady is apparently at the Garage (car park in Wolstenholme square) and not the Kaz :)

Yeah was gonna say on The Hold Steady, not the Kaz.

So far got planned Drenge, Fat White Family, Wolf Alice, The Hold Steady, Jon Hopkins, Gengahr, The Bohicas, Shy Nature, Amazing Snakeheads, Circa Waves, TRAAMS, Thumpers, Hooton Tennis Club, Theo Verney, San Fermin, Tennis, Woman's House, Bipolar Sunshine, The Creases, Royal Blood/Blessa, Fuck Buttons, Raleigh Ritchie, The Hold Steady, Factory Floor, Silent Sleep, Bernard & Edith, All We Are, Embers,The Districts, Blaenavon, Jimi Goodwin, The Physics House Band, Jagwar Ma, The Neighbourhood, Jungle, 65daysofstatic, The Kooks and The Big Ups.

That's £1.44 a band.

Any recommendations from anyone for early on Friday evening? Not got anyone I particularly want to see until Albert Hammond in the cathedral - then want to see Wolf Alice, Drenge and the Hold Steady after that. But if there's anyone people think are worth checking out before then let me know. Otherwise I'll probably just take in a few different venues (actually that's part of the fun of something like this).

I would also like an answer to this. That is my Friday exactly so far.

I am back over from the Netherlands for this tomorrow. Hope it is as good as last year was. I want something as unexpected and fantastic as Bo Ningen were please.

Gotta be honest I don't understand them at all, the songs say absolutely nothing to me.  Just a wall of sound and not much else.

Just got home, left early after Jagwar was packed and I decided I really wasnt arsed about the Kooks.  Bit disappointing overall imo, enjoyed Wolf Alice, Gengahr, The Districts, Jon Hopkins and Hooton Tennis Club and Tennis but apart from that there didn't seem to be much quality spread around the rest of the line-up.

Think it was a mixture of staying in a sweat box hostel with no proper shower/wash for days and a few awful snorers meaning I barely had a wink, overall lack of quality and a couple of bands like Amazing Snakeheads and Fat White Family being a let down.

No getting in for Drenge was grim as well.

First time I've been to this and thought it was top quality .

Notables for me were The Sugermen , Gruff Rhys , Theo Verney . Roya Blood - fuck me , thought my ears were gonna bleed . Harlequin Dyyanmite and the Splintered Ukes were pretty decent also.

Went to plenty of venues I've never been before but will definately get back to.Got to try and get out more .Though the atmosphere was spot on throughout - hardly a scally in sight over the whole weekend .

Anyone catch the mini- Brazilian Carnival in Wolstenholme Square last night ? Nice way to top it all off  :) .
