Not sure if its gardening related but...
ARGH! Every morning I get woken up at 5am, by magpies pecking on my roof, and the satellite-dish.

All this because my neighbours leave their bloddy dog food out over night! There used to only be 4 magpies, but they were all lined up the other day on the fence waiting to pounce on the dog food, and I counted 14 magpies, with more on the roof as I could hear them!

I was sitting in the Living room watching tv at about 3pm today and I heard this mighty bang on the window. The magpies have started figthing each other and one flew into the window!

I keep chasing them away but it's not working, they keep coming back!

What can I do?!?!?!?!
(and I know the obvious is to ask my neigbours to bring their dog food in, but me and my neighbours don't exactly get along... ;) )

:( :(

Never liked gardening, always go for flags and stones to keep it as low maintenance as possible. But my lad asked if he could plant a few flowers and I'm surprised how much I enjoyed doing it. Even bought a cactus in a nice pink pot!

a bit of hard work, sweat and dirt and you go from this

to this

and finally to this.all for less than 100 quid.will be nice to have a decent garden for a change.

did this lot  below last year.

still not finished with the garden, but slowly getting there and gives a sense of achievement from before and after.

My spuds are coming along nicely. Surprised at just how quickly they're growing!

The lettuces are looking good as well - growing like mad. Got some broccoli growing too which is going well, but I don't have a clue what is going on with my carrots.

Just spent the whole morning in the garden doing the lawn and patching up. Phew!

My lawn is like ~14m long but I've got a 4x6m long section of overgrown shrubs and crap after that which I want dug up and turfed to extend the lawn even further making the whole garden look spanking hot as Anfield. Obviously I can't do this on my own and will have to hire experts to do it so does anyone know roughly how much I'll have to fork out for an area of 4x6m? And wheres the best place to look for someone?
If he retires I'll eat my fucking cock.

I've built some raised beds in a small polytunnel and filled them with all purpose compost to grow vegetables. Should I add some sand/topsoil or something to the beds next year to aid drainage or am I ok with just compost?

see pics above. my garden is 5m by 8.5 m. i did all that by hand.less than a 100 quid for the turf.takes time but gives satisfaction to see the end result.
