Everton should have battered them, they had the chances. Ozil is a lazy bugger and he isn’t the only one.
Aubameyang was the only one who resembled a footballer in the Arsenal team. The rest just couldn’t wait to get rid of the ball.
Richarlison looked threatening at times but Calvert Lewin looked like the striker he was last season.
Gomes didn’t take long to get booked for a stupid challenge on his return.

I've seen people leaving Anfield early and we're on the verge of a title win. Some people for whatever reason always seem to prefer to beat the queues out. It's not something I can understand but there you go.

With people travelling from further afield its inevitable, that some will have to leave before the end though. We probably have more locals going, so you don't notice it as much. When I went, the guy in front of me and his two companions would always leave ten minutes early.

To be honest i'm the same when i'm in London, but it leads to a mindset of always being in a rush. Arsenal's ground has got the best public transport links in the country, yet empties out a lot quicker than Anfield does despite Anfield being among the worst big grounds for public transport and traffic jams. As I said, a high proportion of Arsenal's support won't live in London (or that area of London) which is the main reason.

Some of you have forgotten how bad Arsenal where a while back. Like every thing else it will depend on who he brings in, I am presuming they will have to sell to buy. But they have some talented young players on the books. They are playing better than before.

I think you are over estimating Everton, they are still incredibly anxious mentally when playing games like these, you only had to see them crumble after half-time, to see that. Their two goals came from set pieces, yes they made chances. What's the point if all you are going to do is sky them all game? Arsenal still have to sort out their defending at set-pieces, that is still their undoing. But they do have options in attack. I said during the game, the Emirates is how Anfield used to be, before you found our killer instinct. If they relax too much the crowd get anxious and so do the players. They are much better when they are playing with pace in attack. They still need a couple of windows to bolster up their squad, that as ever will be the thing which makes the biggest difference.

I think he is one of the better journalists and some of his recent writing has been good, especially with regard the wider footballing issues at the moment. He has also been critical of City in the past, one of the few journalists who has been. He got a mention on one of the Nicholas McGeehan (the human right's blogger) pieces, where he has been targeted by some of the Abu Dhabi email specialists. I notice too he was getting criticised by so-called "Spurs" fans for suggesting that Mourinho's type of football is outdated.

The crowd don’t help I suppose, but they made an Everton midfield of Siggurdson Sneiderlin and Delph look good. They were so slow in thought and deed they allowed themselves to be closed down and pressed by those three. As for the defending, I admit it looked panicked, but it seemed that even when a good attacking pass was on, the likes of Ozil would do a 360° turn with the ball and allow the move to stagnate.
Maybe we have become accustomed to our style of play, and it make everything else look bad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they were brilliant or anything. I do think though, its hard when you are in the Europa League and then playing on the Sunday. I seem to remember we found that a challenge as well, it had a knock-on effect on our league results. Everton as you say had more energy but then they were coming fresh into the game. I don't remember Siggurdson doing much on the day either, but then most of what he does seems to be forgettable now. So, I think the closing down was partly due to the very slow start from them, to get their passing game going. Once they were doing that, they looked better and scored a couple of good goals. I think they will replace Ozil shortly, not convinced Arteta wants him. They have a couple of important windows coming up, I'm expecting a few departures. I think he has stabilised them in areas, but still a lot of work to do.

The reality is that Arteta is still having to work with the same group of players that still has the same short comings that they've always had.

He's done well to mask some things, he has a bit more structure to the team which up until today has helped us look a bit more solid (I think only Liverpool had conceded less than us in 2020), but at the end of the day he's unfortunately not going to make the likes of Xhaka & Ozil more athletic, or cut out all of the brain farts from the likes of Mustafi & Luiz.

It will be an interesting summer, to see who he wants to replace to try and replicate his style of play moving forward

The city ban has brought us right back into contention. 4 points back with 11 games to go, anything is possible.

The Europa League schedule is going to be a factor for the Gooners, Wolves and United. I expect all to get through and then you have another small turnaround before the next stage. Spurs and Chelsea will (probably) go out the Champions League so they might get the benefit of rest, even if Mourinho has made Spurs shite (injuries blah blah).

Since everyone hates this long Champions League stage taking place over 6 weeks, I wish UEFA could have made the Champions League kick in in line with the next round of Europa League and let this round of Europa games take place on the Tuesday and Wednesdays that the CL games are. Give the teams a break from the Thurs-Sun schedule and give the Europa League one round to shine without being overshadowed. But money talks I guess.

It will still be tough to be honest. We've got a spell in April where we have to play Wolves, Leicester, Spurs, Yourselves & a Man City game to fit in, so that could be our undoing.

A bit cliché, but I'm trying not to look at the league table & expect too much, I'm just hoping we can put a run of decent performances & results together to keep us positive going into the summer. Europa League might still be our best chance of silverware / Champions League qualification.
