Anyone got any recommendations for a £400-ish desktop PC. It's for the father-in-law who is not at all technical. Onboard graphics is fine. Has to be Windows 7.

Looking for a tablet for my kid. Preferably one where he can play games, watch Iplayer/youtube, and download apps. Max I would be willing to spend would be £150. Anyone any ideas?

I got one last week but its crap. No access to Iplayer, youtube, android market and touch screen was awful

Its slightly over your budget at £169 but its the absolute minimum you would be able to spend and meet the requirements...

Was planning on getting a small television for Uni for my PS3. A monitor with HDMI or DVI input should suffice as well. I want one between 19 and 22" but my budget is about 100 quid so haven't been able to find many. Any idea where I could find one?

The nice people at Asus have given me some supported pricing and I've been able to pretty much slash the price of a high end laptop in half. If anybody could give it some heat on Hotdeals too that would help my targets this month!

Hey mate, I'm thinking of getting a laptop for Christmas to replace an ancient desktop, my mum and dad will go halves with me, so thinking one for less than £500. What's the best I could aim for?

If any tech nerds are interested, I've got a barely used (3 weeks) 2.5" 500GB Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive that I no longer have a use for. I'm more than willing to sell it or swap for a hard drive that I can turn into an external one as I'd rather not waste a hybrid drive on that.

Always search ebay with Fatfinger.com first, you might find a bargain due to a simple spelling mistake.

Absolute bargain for a SSD...

http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/harddrives-internal/solidstate/upto128gb/agt3-25sat3-120g.html

it's amazing how much they have dropped of late and you can get the Crucial M4 which is one of the best for around £80 now for 128GB. Probably the best upgrade for a PC these days, the speed is so much better than a HD.

Anyone know what a refurbished laptop would be like? Looking at this HP one which looks like a good deal but wouldn't want it to fuck up after a couple of years or less:

Manufacturer refurbished will be fine, it means its physically done back to HP or their approved repair centre. When originally sold by Argos it'll have had something wrong with it which HP have resolved by replacing any necessary parts.

Pretty sure you get a full warranty with it.

Just grabbed an e-motion 23" full HD TV on eBay, refurbished grade A condition. Bargain, if I must say so myself.

Any places doing good deals on a PS3 slim 160GB?

Also I'm looking to get rid of my laptop if anyone out there looking for one. Toshiba 4GB RAM, 500GB HD, 2.53ghz, Intel i3 Core processor.

How essential is the DVD-RW? Would you consider an external drive instead of built in? This acer is nice and comes with a rebate for the Win8 Upgrade. Total comes to just under 300.00:

http://www.ebuyer.com/398053-acer-aspire-v5-thin-and-light-nx-m2cek-003

Not much else to say really except avoid Intel Celeron if you can.

Short story is the laptop is dead.   taken it to a local repair fella and he said the motherboard is gone. Look to get it repaired or buy new?  If it's to be new then I want a fair bit of processing power behind it, tend to have multiple things on the go (footy manager, video, Word, etc.) so the more cores the better.  problem is the budget of course.  What are my options?  And what spec should I be looking at for about £400 max?  Also, is there likely to be much in the post-christmas sales?
