I've got a Phillips as well, but I ditched it in favour of a WD HD TV player as it stutters too much.

Has happened once to me before but that's because file on USB was DVD version, not .avi which seems to run smoothly via the usb

ATM I'm using mplayer on a homebrew wii to watch things downloaded from the iplayer - it seems to be struggling with high bitrate mp4s, probably with the h264 codec.  Any suggestions for a cheap box that will play them without stuttering?

Why  not just use the wii iplayer channel?
"All the lads have been talking about is walking out in front of the Kop, with 40,000 singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone'," Collins told BBC Radio Solent. "All the money in the world couldn't buy that feeling," he added.

This was actually an avi, which was pretty disappointing. We just use it to play DVDs now.

My B'band speed is .61 of a megabit.  iplayer constantly buffers, besides when I use get iplayer I can store them on my HD

Probably a silly question but did the pen drive have a decent read speed?

Software site, Valve, is giving away puzzle game Portal for free for PCs and Macs if you download it before 23 May. The game usually retails on Valve' site for £16.99, so grab it while you can!

My desktop PC is dying with an intermittent motherboard problem. I'm looking at a £400-odd quid business oriented system - i.e. not a hardcore gaming system.  Anyone seen any good offers in that sort of range?

You can get some good Dell deals. Now I know they aren't everyones cup of tea. But I love them as they are 100% silent.
Had mine for 4 years now, admittedly I've changes CPU, ram, hard disk, graphics etc.... buts its still going strong now and you cant even tell its on.

Thanks for that. I need a laptop. I have heard more negative reviews of Acer than Dell/Sony for a laptop. Spec seems great value for money but overall - how does Acer fair?

I think Acer Direct do extended warrantys. If you are worried about them maybe worth getting one of those for piece of mind.

I have had a few Acers, cant fault them.

could do with getting a laptop to connect to the telly to stream live matches....what would you recomend ?...what is the minimum requirement too as a lot of it goes over my head?
Also ,is it just as simple as connecting the laptop directly to the tv via a hdmi cable,or is there more to it than that?

I PM'd a couple of people who had been looking for a laptop as I've got a pretty good deal on an Acer laptop, got the last couple to clear and can get them for 450 if anyone interested.

Link above, drop me a PM if you are interested.

Is anybody after a new laptop at the moment?  Place where I work are holding too much stock, and I've been given the go ahead to sell stuff below cost price to try and move it on.  If people can give me a rough idea of spec requirements I should be able to sort you something far cheaper than you'll get elsewhere (Mostly Acer stock, some Asus)

Gameseek.co.uk
Create Account
Order game
Enter NOWITSCHEAPER in voucher code box
Save £5, especially useful when ordering Mortal Kombat 9, or Batman: Arkham City for £29.99 each. (I just ordered both :P)

Is gameseek reliable, never used them before and the only problem I can find online seems to be inconsistent delivery times?

Anyone know anywhere to get a cheap iPod classic? I've looked and even the 30gb are over 100 quid still :\

Hey, I'm looking for an iPod, probably Classic, don't care as long as it plays music, and has plenty of memory. Preferably able to get it in person, unless I can get it delivered for Friday as well. Don't really want to spend much more than £100! Thanks in advance!

The nice people at Asus have given me some supported pricing and I've been able to pretty much slash the price of a high end laptop in half. If anybody could give it some heat on Hotdeals too that would help my targets this month!

Do you have one? I currently have one on order.

Battery life for the tablet alone is apparently 9 hours, and with the docking station/keyboard, it increases to 16 hours total. Miles better than a laptop/netbook where you are lucky to get more than 5 hours.
