Shaq assist on the Sturridge goal too, not sure if that's his second or third so far

It's only really his first! Second if you count the own goal by Southampton last week.

Or the one where he smashed it off the bar and Mo got the rebound
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Yeah good point. Another one which isn't directly counted as an assist by Opta, but could be taken as one.

Despite it saying our front 3 have dropped a level or 2 the front 3 have actually scored 2 more goals between them this season than the same period last season (13 games), Salah has scored 6, Bobby 4 & Mane 3 in the 1st 13 games last season, whereas Salah has scored 6 again, Mane 5 & Bobby 4 again this season.  It was only from the Maribor game that they started to score for fun, 78 goals in the final 43 games last season.

Looking at this stat in isolation, who says they're misfiring this season!!  I guess it all depends on how many shots they've had & their conversion rate etc.

Sturridge has already scored more this season than last, as has Milner.

You can make stats say exactly what you want, depending on how you present them!!

That's really good from Shaqiri and Sturridge, considering they are both rotation players. They may not be Mahrez or Gabriel Jesus, but they are talented and they are delivering.

Yep, but Firmino/Mane have Lukaku/Morata like figures - been very hit and miss, although his numbers in just the league are better (goal or assist every 165 mins), with Firmino's being about 188 - compared to Morata's goal/assist every 167 mins and Lukaku's 200; both performing below the previous season, and need to step up and start producing; I do believe this is about the time in season last year that both did, so hopefully the same will happen again

And both of those play a different role for their teams. Mane isn't a central striker and his tasks and responsibilities are different to Lukaku and Morata. Same can be said for Firmino, especially since he's played in a different position this season at Klopp's request.

In other words we're comparing apples to oranges. Both Lukaku and Morata are pure centerforwards. Mane and Firmino aren't.

Yeah excellent squad depth. Good spread amongst our main 3 attacking players and a healthy return from midfield too (not all via Milner penalties either this year).

If I was being extremely fussy I'd say it would be nice to see a few more goals from centre backs - that's usually a good indication of being a threat from set pieces, which most successful teams seem to have as a string to their bow. Feels like the floodgates are going to open soon for VvD though.

With nine goals from set pieces, we're only one behind Spurs who are the top scorers of them this season.

Which isn't to say the CBs shouldn't contribute the odd goal now and again of course, but we're doing well on this front.

Oh wow, that is very impressive. I didn't realise it was that high.

Out of curiosity, at what point after a set piece has been taken does it stop counting as a set piece goal?

Obviously direct from the set piece (i.e. a penalty or direct free kick like TAA's) counts.
The first touch after a corner or free kick must count (i.e. Matip's header or Salah's tap in from the Shaq free kick against the crossbar).

After that though when does it stop being a set piece goal? Does a goal mouth scramble after a free kick with a few touches before the goal count? How about Origi V Everton? It all stemmed from an Alisson free kick (to TAA to VvD to Pickford to Origi). But as all the players on the pitch were still positioned (give or take) as they were from the Alisson free kick, does that mean they're still in 'set piece' phase?

I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. I think as long as the ball isn't properly cleared then it still counts - Origi's is recorded as from a set piece, for instance.

For the record, I believe our nine set piece league goals (not including pens) are:
Sturridge vs West Ham
Firmino vs Leicester
Wijnaldum vs Spurs
Matip vs Southampton
Salah vs Southampton
Shaqiri vs Fulham (corner was cleared and played back in, that obviously counts!).
Trent vs Watford
Origi vs Everton
Firmino vs Burnley

I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. I think as long as the ball isn't properly cleared then it still counts - Origi's is recorded as from a set piece, for instance.

For the record, I believe our nine set piece league goals (not including pens) are:
Sturridge vs West Ham
Firmino vs Leicester
Wijnaldum vs Spurs
Matip vs Southampton
Salah vs Southampton
Shaqiri vs Fulham (corner was cleared and played back in, that obviously counts!).
Trent vs Watford
Origi vs Everton
Firmino vs Burnley

Cheers. Yeah that is quite a lot when you see it written down. I think I must have been projecting issues I'm carrying from the 'Another Wasted Corner' days that aren't actually there now!
