I have been a (relatively) long time user of RAWK - mostly lurking but get in my fair share of posts. I have always been so impressed with the admin/mod team here. It really shows when you view other forums for our club (and forums of other clubs) that they are disgustingly toxic, full of inanity and insanity. I have always wanted to donate to you all to keep the site running, but unfortunately I have never really been in a position to have disposable income. I am certain this sentiment is felt by many of our users.
So, what is BAT? How would it benefit RAWK? Well, others are more concise than I am, so let me quote from reddit's intro to BAT, which I'll link at the end as it is a very good introduction:
Basic Attention Token is a blockchain-based digital advertising and rewards platform by the creator of Javascript and co-founder of Mozilla & Firefox. The platform is comprised of many components, including a self-serve advertising dashboard (which allows advertisers to launch and manage ad campaigns), locally-running ad matching and delivery algorithms, attention measurement systems, zero-knowledge proof (ZKP) protocols and more.
The concept is simple, though the big fancy new tech words aren't -
Advertisers purchase BAT to pay for ad space.
Users will earn BAT tokens for their attention and engagement with any ads displayed to them, called “ad revenue sharing”
RAWK, as content creators, will receive ad revenue plus user contributions in tips.
In an online landscape that is increasingly filled with ad-blockers (does RAWK have ads? I wouldn't know...), Brave is attempting to not only trying to incentivize advertisers not to track, be overly intrusive, etc., the model fosters user engagement in ads as well as content creators who do good work. You all do good work. I figure any ways to make RAWK more money would be welcome. And yes, you could exchange BAT for real money
