Nah, he's at the same level as them. Not better IMO.
Now i don't watch anywhere near as much of him as you but I do rate him as one of the top batsman over the last many years, and I am biased as an Australian. But do you honestly believe he is as good as those two?

Nah, he's better.

I am joking. :) I guess the point I was trying to make was that it is wrong to say Sehwag didn't deserve to break a record held by the Don and Lara. Just as it is wrong to say he is better than both of them had he broken the record. Records are meant to be broken and if he does then good for him.

;D
Now when you infered as good as, then i could believe you. But i know that saying he is better is a joke.  ;)

I guess records are there for breaking, but i'm always reminded of Mark Taylor's 334 whenever people mention record breaking and Bradman. His quote of it being " the only way I’ll ever get to be ranked alongside Sir Don." is a great one. Perhaps it wasn't his motivation for not batting on but I like to think he felt like he didn't deserve to break such a great mans record. I don't think many are deserving of breaking Bradman's records. Just my thoughts though.

Windies finished first day of the 2nd test 336/6, which is a significant improvement on the first game. Bravo hit a ton, and it was actually a good watch.

This.

Records are meant to be broken but not all record holders are great players.  Sehwag however is a great player and will no doubt go down as one of the legends of Indian cricket.  Fantastic hitting yesterday.

The chants for Kenny Dalglish that were heard again on Wednesday do not necessarily mean that the fans see him as the saviour. This is not Newcastle, longing for the return of Kevin Keegan. Simply, Dalglish represents everything Hodgson is not and, in fairness, everything Hodgson could or would not hope to be.

I don't know what the point was in batting to 700+ when Sri Lanka didn't even get 400 on the board. I'd say India would probably declare over night and give themselves a couple of days to bowl SL out. If they can't they'd look pretty damn stupid.

You've answered your own question.  And by the looks of things Sehwag made the bowling attack ordinary and the wicket, flat as hell given how the wickets have fallen today.  It may yet be possible to bowl Sri Lanka out for an innings defeat.

If you can't get a team all-out in 180 overs, you probably don't deserve to win anyway. And India have the series wrapped up even if it's a draw so don't see what the problem is.

3 overs to go. 333 Behind. Curse of the Triple Nelson? Would love to see Shepherd hop and jump here. :(

No need for comparisons. He is just one of a kind. There is noone nowhere who could claim to anywhere near to tie his boots. Anyone see the 20-20 game today

Biggest chase in the history of 20-20 by India. Shewag (sp) and Singh...wow

PS: Rob Key just said WHEN on form and set himself in, there is no one better than Shewag. The sky pundit seems shocked at this statement, but i'm porb with key on this....Anyone else agree

I saw Yuvraj's innings in the 20/20 yesterday versus Sri Lanka. I'm still trying to think how many other players hit the ball as cleanly and sweetly as he does when he's on form.

That was some innings he played. Magnificent stuff.

;D

Just a snippet from that article. That is brilliant.

I am by no means suggesting that the genius of Vettori be consigned to the cricketing realm. Vettori should be CEO of all New Zealand-based companies, Mayor of Hobbiton, the Governor General and both Prime Minister and all other 120 New Zealand MPs. Perhaps the country's economy would experience subtle changes of pace, but at least it would never be in danger of taking a dramatic turn. The government could even look into exporting Vettori. They would make a right killing.

Here's hoping that New Zealand Cricket do the sensible thing and pour all their funding into cloning research. The world would be a better place if we were all Daniel Vettori.

Yeah it's a good piece.

Vettori is some seriously amazing player though. Of all the great players in the world right now, I would wish for him to be playing for Australia more than any other. Maaaybe Mendis at the same level.

He would solve all our captaincy problems for the next 5 or 6 years, be excellent lower order batting (imagine he and Johnson coming in at 8 & 9!), and we wouldn't be rushed into finding the next Shane Warne for another long period of time. If only eh?

What an ODI developing in India against Sri Lanka...

India 414-7 (Sehwag 146 of 102)

Sri Lanka now 179-0 off 23 overs.

Cricinfo blocked at work and I'm following it on shitty BBC. I will probably have my next update at some point tomorrow.

All I know now is that SL need 7 an over with two new batsman at the crease. We need another wicket quickly. If we fail to defend 414, there will be murder!

Indian players go wild in the middle. Sangakara looks dejected. Crowd berserk. Last ball was a full toss for 1 run. Sachin controls the wild celebrations and tells everyone to huddle on the pitch. Players form a circle. Great game. India deserved to win. Disappointed in SL for running from that deflection off the batsman's pads when it was 15 off 12 required. That one incident made them undeserving of a win.

All in all, 825 runs scored in 100 overs on single day's play in one venue. Second highest after the Aussie-SAffer game. Dilshan almost walked away with it. Brilliant player who the Delhi crowd fondly remembers and looks forward to during thr IPL.

Great game! Both sides should just play 11 batsmen for the next game no purpose in playing bowlers with these flat tracks  :)
