I don't think 'better performance' in a 1-1 home draw against newly-promoted Norwich is the improvement anyone was hoping for or finds satisfactory.

It's pitiful.

Missed it, who was at fault for the Norwich goal??

Mignolet. Weak punch from a corner straight to Russell Martin who chested it down and lobbed him from about 8 yards out.

Our last 10 competitive game record, that's not acceptable. Surely Mr.Rodgers time is well and truly up

But we're slowly getting better mate. After 3 more years hopefully it'll become D/D/D/D/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/DD/D/D/D/D/D/D/L

Someone explain to me the point of Milner? Headless chicken, poor timing on tackles, and Kuyt has a better first touch.

Decent player to start out wide against sides with good wide players or to bring on late in games when we need to close up shop.

+ Moreno was excellent.
+ First half performance was good, only finishing was lacking.

- Milner was poor, again. Also, he simply can't be the best option for taking corners, every single one was wasted.
- Defending set pieces was poor, again. Mignolet will be blamed, but he was forced to punch a ball that should have been dealt with by the defenders (it was far from the goal), and no-one was there to clear the ball afterwards.

We played well and I can't be arsed to debate it

In context it'll mean Rodgers gets more shit but we created more than enough chances to win it

Shape looked way better and it allowed us to control the match and should be used from now on

Coutinho's decision making in the final 3rd is abject

Huge positive to see Sturridge play 60 mins

Agreed. I don't feel nearly as lost as I have after recent matches... Utd in particular. Still lots of players playing with each other for the first time. I'm excited to see a fit sturridge combining with this new team. Firminho looked good. Crap result, but something to build on.

Maybe the target this season 40 points

Can't see any other logic in playing 3 @ back against fucking Norwich at Anfield

That reflects badly upon your knowledge of football not Rodgers.

The people who are after Rodgers wont agree but that was a pretty decent performance today. We created a lot of CLEAR CUT chances but couldn't finish them off.

Doesn't matter. Three points were all that mattered today

Confidence low obviously, but being in this situation mid-September makes it  all a bit depressing...Unfortunately, this is when the likes of Coutinho start thinking to themselves, what the fuck am I doing here?

nice finish from Ings, very Rushie-like.

Little else positive to speak of, other than good performances from Moreno and Sakho.

With all due respect, if a bloke who was managing Hamilton f*cking Accies 9 months ago can bring his team to Anfield and get a comfortable point, the jig is well and truly up.

Better performance.

Result not good enough.

Pretty much.

Moreno MotM.

Milner was terrible. Never a CM.

Coutinho too greedy. Milner slow with poor decision making.

Ings showed fight and passion. Made up for his goal. MOTM by far

Moreno was great when the team made use of him. But he was largely ignored.

Sakho should be starting every game.

Better performance but still, we should be beating Norwich at home. We have not improved at all from last season. Strange decisions going on even the hiring of the coaching staff which most scratched their heads over. Do feel a bit for Colin and Mike. Can only think FSG are continuing with Brendan because he is too expensive to sack.

Maybe a new manager would be flexible enough to work with the squad, believes himself capable of moulding any groups of players according to his tactics/beliefs

You'd hope so. We're away at Everton, Spurs and Chelsea in October. The Villa game next weekend is massive as at the moment, its unlikely we'll be getting too many points in October.

coulda woulda shoulda

One one at home to Norwich.  We created more chances but scored only one goal and we have ALWAYS looked vulnerable to conceding since Brendan became manager.  I never felt comfortable watching this game even when we were on top.  I dont know, I hear bout improved performances and great individual performances today.  Cant see it myself.  We created a few more chances...we messed them up.  I dont think the way we have played for the last six months is good enough for LFC.  I think its been arse gravy pure and simple.

Those are not small things. We make too many defensive howlers - usually it's a centre back, today it was a GK - and our lack of clinical finishing has been a problem for over a year now.

It was an improvement but a more clinical opponent would have left us with 0 points.

looking back at the Norwich goal could SM have punched with both hands? He finished last season doing this after his 'dicky' spell and looked a lot confident for a short time. We had enough chances to win easy but the same story is popping up too often.

We did enough to win the game but it was Mignolet who actually cost us the game in the end. I know he made a critical save at 1-1, but it was his weak effort on a corner that saw us concede in the first place. His distribution, particularly in the first half, was terrible and overall he really just made that 1 save and thats about it.

Plenty of chances to score, not just Coutinho, although really that should've been a goal. Just needed to pick his spot and put it in. Instead he tries to slide it past at the near post which was probably the narrowest angle he had and the poorest choice to take. But Sturridge, Milner, Can all had chances and Coutinho had other chances too. The positives were that Sakho was overall decent, Moreno was outstanding, Ings showed character and a bit of fight and when he came on I thought Lallana was quite good.

We need to press harder and work a bit harder off the ball to generate some movement and tempo in our game. When we get our passing going and there are those quick interchanges, we look dangerous and capable of carving teams apart. Unfortunately, those moments of excellence punctuate very long periods of unimaginative inept play riddled with unforced errors and a lack of game intelligence. We are our own worst enemies at the moment.

Regardless of 'improvements' shown, this is the games we should be winning. I was really hoping we can capitalise on the momentum after Ings scored. Surely we have to change the manager by now before its too late.

The team selection to me suggested that he has been spoken to. A man with time doesn't risk an injury prone player like that. A loss would've probably been the end, fail to win against Villa and I think he might be gone.
Then in the midddle out pops a smiling glen johnson pulling up his jersey to reveal a t-shirt of suarez with a text saying. "OUR SUAREZ IS A FRIEND TO ALL COLOURS!"
