Brazil legend Ronaldo: Sex before matches does not affect performance
The former No.9 insists that enjoying sexual intercourse prior to games does not ruin a player's form, while also reminiscing about a previous escape from Brazil camp with Romario
Former Brazil striker Ronaldo has claimed that sex does no harm on a player's performance, while masturbation ruins fitness levels.
The recently-retired World Cup-winner spoke to Sport about his past experiences in football off the field, insisting that acts of sexual intercourse do not negatively impact on a player, but personal pleasure increases fatigue.
"Nobody can prove that sex affects performance on the field," said Ronaldo. "[However], masturbation is more tiring."
He then spoke about an incident during the 1997 Copa America, where he confessed to fleeing from Brazil's hotel base without permission with team-mate Romario, in a perfectly planned scheme.
"In 1997, during Copa America, Romario convinced me to escape with him from the hotel," admitted Ronaldo.
"I had to jump over a wall, have a ladder prepared and a taxi booked to take us away.
"It was all handled very intricately, but I cannot give any more details," joked the former Inter star.
