cycling to Anfield
« on: July 29, 2018, 11:26:53 am »
I'm thinking of cycling from mine to Anfield this season for midweek games, it's only about 4 miles and will be quicker than getting a bus back with all the traffic or walking. Anyone ever done this and know if they still operate a safe place to leave your bike up near the ground.

As in the official info, there's definitely bike stands on the corner of Anfield Road/ Stanley Park.
Seems a good option if you live close enough.

I know people who do this and always say it's safe leaving the bike there.

Obviously this is before the game and I've no idea if they stay all game, but walking through there I've always seen a few stewards and quite often there's been a police or security dogs van parked up and they leave the back of it open so the dogs can get some air so they must be near by.

Thanks everyone. I plan to start doing this for games this season saves me walking home after. Anyone think this will be here on Tuesday night against Torino?

I cycled last night and it was awesome. There was a really lovely fella looking after the bike racks. Got home to Aigburth in 21 minutes after the game. So good. Would do again.

Yes I cycled there last night to and had a good chat to him. He's was a sound bloke. Took me about 20 mins after to bike back to old swan. Better than walking back or waiting for a bus then getting stuck in traffic.  Will do it for most homes now I think.

Don't go that often anymore, but have used the bike racks since they started doing them and its always fine. If it gwts busy they tend to run out of locks, but if you take your own you can just use that instead.

Hey guys, I've not cycled since the last atletico game. Is there a cycle hub this season and if not where's the best place to lock up me bike?
Sir, the cash monies?

Matchday programme is still advertising the cycle hub so assume it's still there

Isn't that in the car park by the Annie though? cos I think it might currently be a building site though I can't say I had a proper look.

Exellent bump, I had exactly the same question! :D

Yes, it used to be in the car park behind the Annie. Is that closed now? Before that, it was in the Stanley park car park.

Typically the club email has all sorts of travel advise, but completely ignores bikes.

There’s a downloadable PDF map which is titled Anfield Transport Plan 21/22 season, which shows the cycle hub on still on Annie Road. Link below

Cheers. The big question is if that's still current with the building works going on....

Guess I'll try to get there early so I can find somewhere to lock it up if there's no bike hub.

There is a bike hub. The club is advertising it as 21/22 season (i.e this season) and so is the matchday programme.

They would ‘t be doing this if it wasn’t there would they

They haven't updated the maps or anything to say that the family park isn't there or that Anfield Rd is blocked off, so yes, they would ;D

My fella has just been up the ground and walked through Stanley car park and said there's no cycle hub that he can see.

They say that in the programme and that Anfield Road is blocked off.

Maybe I'm giving the club too much credit then

My fella has just been up the ground and walked through Stanley car park and said there's no cycle hub that he can see.

Think they only put it up for the match. It's basically three portable racks for bikes, two flags to mark it, and 1-2 stewards to take people's details.

Wish they'd build a bit more permanent bike storage, just a couple of rows of u-shaped racks would do.

The bike hub is now in the Stanley Park car park, pretty much across the path from where it was before. Behind a container with signs "accredation hub".

Hah, I went into the car park looking for a steward to ask. He looked at me with a big grin and pointed directly behind me... :butt
