Thought tonight and against Palace looked sharper, fitter and moving more freely than at any point post-injury.

Have a feeling he might start against Arsenal to give us a bit more defensive solidity than TAA would.
While Gomez may be a bit more 'solid', TAA is actually a full back. Gomez's lack of comfort as a full back contributed significantly on the second goal.

The focus now should not be on who the owners are, but limits on what owners can do without formal supporter agreement. At all clubs.

He's been absolutely immense at right-back today, topped his performance off with an assist and played a part in the fourth as well with some very calm defending and interplay with Firmino.

Yes solid. Had a moment when he got booked but took one for the team there. Hopefully his injury problems are behind him now.

Delighted for him.

After two years of injury hell today he looked back to that fantastic young prospect we saw in the late Rodgers time.

when ramsey (?) skinnned him and he picked up a yellow i feared the worst, but he moved over it. probably not the best game to judge him by because of how bad arsenal were but he did well
I would honestly let Wijnaldum jizz in my face right now

Joe is looking good, nice assist for the 1st too.

It's amazing how well he's come back.  And it's great for the squad too, a very good young player who can fill in across the back line.

Really solid performance. Loved the cross for the first goal. He, TAA and Clyne give us amazing depth for that right back position.

Someone really ought to tell Gomez not to head/pass the ball back into the centre of the penalty area. Did it several times today but got away with it, unlike last time. Otherwise fairly solid, and a beautiful cross for the goal.

So happy Klopp is sticking by him after that horrible injury, was afraid he would just slip down into the reserves before the season...

not sure why that would have been a worry.  He has stuck by him all the way through, and he already knew all about him from Dortmund scouting him. And he was given a new contract recently.

The only question I think many had was if he'd get sent on loan to get some games under his belt this season. But the longer pre-season went on, the more it became apparent he was ready to be a part of the first team here.

First I'm hearing about it. I guess you're right, just never easy to come back from an ACL, I didn't think he'd be anywhere near staring 2 out of our first 3 games in the league...

yeah, it was pretty widely reported when he signed, that Dortmund had made an offer for him, but he wanted to move to Liverpool.

Started the attacks for the first and second by cutting out two arsenal passes. Looks very solid , impressive but then you take into account how long he was out and it's amazing.

A few mistakes, but those are to be expected from a young player on the road back from injury.  Shut down the left side of Arsenal's attack for much of the match with tremendous anticipation.  I hope we see him all across the back line this season.  He's certainly got the head for it.

We really are blessed at present.

20 year old right footed centre back (elect) floats in inch perfect goal creating cross with his 'weak' foot and neither he or we think that in any way remarkable.

I still remember the likes of good old Riise and his trusty left and not so trusty right like it was yesterday. Now we have the above and the likes of Kent using different feet for corners and penalties. Brave new world.

Watching the highlights from yesterday and didn't notice at the time that he starts the second goal, as well as the first and fourth, by intercepting the ball in our box and setting off the counter attack.

He really was outstanding.  He might end up at CB long-term but he's doing really well at RB in these early stages of the season, in him and Trent we've got two youngsters who are going to go very, very far in the game.  I'm just happy we didn't loan Gomez out as he's already proving that he has something to offer us, that he can be a really useful player for us now as he looks to build toward being a permanent fixture in our starting eleven in the future.  And I'm delighted for Gomez given what he's been through since he joined the club.

Fantastic yesterday. Moves so gracefully across the pitch. His recovery speed really is something.

A naturally gifted footballer and with a good head on his shoulders he will go places. No doubt about it.

Rather him pick up that yellow than get skinned. Thought he was great yesterday, by far his best performance for the club. Glad to see him back after what must have been a tough year getting over the long injury lay-off.

Really starting to contribute going forward as well. Still looks a bit unnatural for him but he's making the movements and the risks. He's certainly no Flanagan/Wisdom on that front.

Gives food for thought now on who should be the starting RB, hopefully he can continue like this with his attacking play. I like the balance he gives to the squad aerially as we lack tall bodies and he is pretty good in defence even at RB because of his recovery speed.

Very simplistically:
Attacking play: TAA > Gomez = Clyne
Defending (ground): Clyne > Gomez > TAA
Defending (air): Gomez > Clyne = TAA

Has he played at CB for the first team aside from that one cup tie last season? Where he didn't look at all sharp in his movement and reactions, seems miles closer to full fitness now.

Was legit scared that his injuries would have completely derailed his progress, he's back at a good level now though. Still surprisingly young too, got plenty of time to develop and find his best position.

How good is this guy on both ends of the pitch. Left foot cross for the assist. Great positioning all game and looked composed as a 30 year old, not a 20 year old.

Loved his composure on the ball. Just takes his time, looks up and picks a pass to alleviate the pressure on the defence and get us moving up the field

There was a couple of good passages of play with Firmino dropping back, drawing players with him and receiving the ball from Gomez

More than once last game he won turnovers that led to goals. I thought it was a really good game in a difficult situation. I always reckon it's difficult to play against Wingbacks but Klopp seems to have it down. Play three at the back now at your own peril!
