they aint.... now alot of people are having the pre wedding parties on a friday ??? probably for all the lightweights out there ;) where's royal court hotel then dude?

Difficult to do if the wedding is on the Saturday though. Not a lightweight thing, gives you an extra day to have a drink :)

Royal Court is in Coventry, where Bacz is from I believe.

well if people are from all over the place i dont see why they would have party friday and then wedding sunday... its not really an extra day for drinking cuz people will use that day to sleep it off :P

I was on it last night, mate, at a wedding reception...I was slaughtered!! Pre-wedding parties the night before the wedding, not a good idea! Have fun...is it in the Royal Court Hotel? Stunning venue.

Royal Court Hotel in Cov?! Were you there?!

Shit man small world!

No, mate. Was at another wedding in London. Thought the wedding you was attending might be at royal court as you live in Cov.

Ah right.

Well, yer it was. It is a nice venue, but there are a few better ones around Cov. Also thought it was weird having the wedding on a Saturday... but at least I can get some work done today (luckily, not feeling the effects of yesterday!)

And I was getting acquainted with the Famous grouse and Chivas- with ice or diluted...

Humph.  So nobody drinks Talisker then?  Wimps.

Had a bit of a snifter of this at the airport two weeks ago.  Very nice, although slightly peaty I found it not as medicinal tasting as Laphroaig, will deffo be my next buy.

I watched the game last night having previously gently toasted myself on some delicious Oban with some old mates.

Excellent.  Another convert.   :scarf   If the peatiness is a factor, try Tomatin which is a very close taste to Talisker, but less peaty.  :wave

Just bought a bottle of 10 year old Jura and 12 year old Bowmans Engima, they never had Talisker at Pathos Airport I'm afraid Mags.  I'll have to try a little snifters later on.  I'm getting quite impressed with my arl whisky collection and might post a picky just to show off later on.

They sound great.   Actually, I think you're wise to try a snifter of Talisker first ( I don't know if they do miniatures), because you'll either love it or hate it.  And I'd very much lke to see your whisky collection, please.

Exactly. The stuff is shocking to say the least!!

I played jacks using absinthe once, and I had to drink 4 in a row (after copious amounts of rum). Sent me off me head it did!!!   NEVER again!

From what I've heard of it, its a wonder you're alive to tell the tale.

Not sounding daft, I hope, but I really am scared of the stuff.

It's not bad if you mix it with hot melted sugar and water, or champagne. But mine was straight. I'll never touch it now. Just thinking about it makes me wanna chuck   :puke2

I've had absinthe, wasn't very nice at all. Tasted a bit like a surgical alcohol swab.

I've got a mate who drinks a fair bit of it though and he's ok. Sort of.

I think he drinks it neat. Last time I was round at his house he had a selection of different ones, some very pale green ones with herbs in, some darker green and even red and purple ones.

The one I had was pale green with herbs in and I had it neat.

If I have it again I'd mix it with something, champagne sounds good.

Just a thought.  Wasn't it illegal to sell absinthe at one time because of its toxic affect on people?
