Midfield three of Stevie, Lucas, and Hendo is my hope.

Not when Kenny has a big soft spot for Adam. This is the performance we get from Hendo in the middle. Take note Kenny. STOP PLAYING HIM DOWN THE WING!

Was very good today. First time I've seen him play at Anfield with so much energy and aggression, usually his head seems in the stars for me. However today he played brilliant, needs to keep that up though.

He was good. I wouldn't say he was the only positive, as Kuyt, three of our back four and Suarez were all great to decent.

Was I watching the same game as some of you? We were as good going forward as we have been in most matches this season. In the first half we could have been 5-1 had we not been denied by the post twice and had Kuyt put away the penalty.

But back to Henderson, I have every confidence that he's going to be a fixture in the side for years to come. For me, as good and important a signing as Enrique for the future.

I'd be hoping for more than that. If this club is serious about moving up then we need a top quality partner for Lucas, Henderson for all his promise is not that yet and I doubt will be for some time. We need to spend to strengthen in midfield, and spend significantly it seems.
Exactly.
Henderson with his erratic performances is a squad player at best now.

He was surprisingly good today. He isnt though, always.

His energy movement and instinct to release the ball and get in position to get it again makes him an ideal candidate for pass and move football. He is so much better when playing in midfield. Play Bellamy, Maxi, Downing, Kuyt even Shelvey or Johnson out there. But not Henderson. The lad is a central midfielder and has all the potential to be a damn good one.

Has a hell of a first-time pass on him. Should be playing in the middle, whether that would relegate Adam to the bench or not.

Henderson is a central midfielder.

I think it's only right we comment on his performances when he actually plays there. He has the brains, touch and movement to be a good player, but he's wasted on the right wing

Yep. Big performance from him considering what happened last week. We all know he's a good player but he can be fucking shite and a right bottler in some games. But those problems should soon be gone as he continues to play for us.

Rather him in the centre alongside Spearing than Adam.

He has this reserved elegance in the middle of the pitch; keeps it tidy, looks up to spot teammates, and passes back only when in trouble. Let's hope he continues to grow so that incisive balls become more of the norm.

For a player his age, he's a very good footballer. People are so impatient these days, as if 21 is the new 27. A partnership of him and Lucas in the middle would be a good start next season.

A cause for concern? That's a fucking understatement, he's supposed to be our playmaker, at the very least he should know what's going on around him. He absolutely fucking murdered that chance.

I say cause for concern because I don't believe in letting players go - I want to see them improved as players instead. Players that are struggling need our support, not our abuse.

Adam has positives and negatives to his ability as a player - I believe in backing him into the form where he can show the positives to his game that we bought him for.

Lucas

Henderson - Gerrard

That is a very good central three IMO.
When discussing Dirk Kuyt's work rate :

I don't think he works as hard as some people claim. No harder, for example, than Stewart Downing.

How can anyone say Henderson is class? :butt

He's dreadful. No pace, gives the ball away, doesn't ever win a tackle - the own goal today will keep a few happy, but not me. Has to be Lucas and a.n.other next term.

Thought he was our best player on the day. When Gerrard doesn't play he is allowed the freedom to get around the pitch and dictate things in the opponents half. He is wasted when forced to play out wide.

He has been very promising but not sure he is ready to start every game, the consistency isn't there from him. Happy to have him in the squad and happy to call upon him when needed, but if we have serious ambitions on fourth spot, then we need another top central midfielder.

he played well today

he is young and needs experience but in 2 years if he is still not performing then we should worry. adam to me is decent but is selfish at the edge of the box, poor decision to miss hendo today.

we looked better with a holding midfielder even if i don't rate spearing to highly, what that does to our formation i don't know. 4 4 2 might be a problem if adam and gerrard can't hold which they don't and teams break onto our back 4. hard to build pressure.

downing played well today too

What are you talking about? He did play on the right today. Not until Spearing went off did he move to the centre. He always has freedom to move about when played there, but his main area was on the right.

Not just you. Spearing and Adam in the middle, Kuyt behind Suarez upfront, Downing left wing, and Henderson on the right.

I think Right Mid is probably a good description. He wasn't quite out in winger territory (where he typically doesn't do well), but he wasn't quite in the center either. He appeared to move around rather freely, too.

But he does that every time he start out wide. It seems just because he played well there (and he hasn't that often, usually much better in the centre), some seem to think he played in another position than he has before. Very strange.

This lad's threads always end up locked but whatever.  He bounced back really well from his poor performance at Wembley.  Deserves some credit, particularly because he was playing out of his natural central position again.

This won't go down well a positive thread!

Henderson - Gerrard

That is a very good central three IMO.

Don't think its a midfield that will break into the top 4 next season, Gerrard hasn't yet got back to his best and Henderson is hit and miss, the only star performer in that midfield that you could rely on week in week out to deliver world class performances is Lucas.

Is Arsenal's midfield any better? We were better than them today, with none of the above playing in the centre of the pitch.

The difference between us is a world class finisher, not anything else. There's nothing special about Arsenal beside that dutch striker. If we had Van Persie, and they Kuyt or Carroll, we'd be about 20-25 points ahead of them.

And you think Arsenals midfield will stay the same?

And even if it does you think Chelseas midfield won't be better come next season?

Bare in mind i'm talking about next season, i don't think that midfield 3 is good enough to get us 4th next season, i would rather us buy another central midfielder rather than rely on an an injury prone Gerrard and inconsistent Henderson.

Henderson impressed me today.
Was always looking for the ball and tried to use it well.
During the first half there was one incident when he had the ball and looking for someone to pass to we are 99% certain we heard him saying "FFS Charlie, move will you".

Good lad today and will get better IF he is played centrally more often.

You may be right. I think having Lucas back (and playing like he did before the injury) will lift us pretty much to their level, but yes, central midfield is an obvious area we can improve. Hopefully someone who can play both with and instead of Lucas (for the times he needs a rest). Would like us to play Shelvey in Gerrard's attacking midfield role much more too.
