The life of a football fan eh?  Some have us getting 13/15, others 3.

I've no idea how many points we'll get, but I do expect the players to go for all 15.

Hoping for 15, would be ok with 13.
Our difficult fixtures are a perfect way to start the season in full throttle, scare the living shit out of competition and build some confidence and ruthlessness.

Bring it on.

Exactly this, we need to put down a marker.  Beating Arsenal 0-3 this weekend will be a great start to that.

The only place we will drop points is the draw against Chelsea (0-0) so I'm saying 13 points, after seeing what we done against Barca (the pressing not the goals) I think early in the season we're going to have other teams submitting 10mins after half time.

It's the hope that kills.  Arsenal is a massive game simply because of the start.  Lose that and then we're up against it with another 2 aways before Leicester at home.  Win it of course and then there's momentum.

I have to admit I have no idea what to expect from whatever team Klopp puts out.  And therein lies the problem.  Don't think we've done enough in the window to address the weaknesses in the team.

Burnley (A) - 3
Spurs (A) - 3
Leicester (H) - 3
Chelsea (A) - 3
Do you really need to list them games? 15 it is.  :)

Really  ???

Anyway enough of this par nonsense. That attitude is getting us nowhere fast.

We finished 8th, had a reasonable Summer but according to 90% of the posts in this thread we are going to start the season in title winning form.

It's highly unlikely and not something it's reasonable to expect.

Arsenal (A) - win: they always start badly (didn't they lose against Villa last year?) so this is the best time to go to Emirates
Burnley (A) - draw: on the other hand, this is the worst time for a bigger club to travel to a promoted side. This will be a small hidden cost of the stadium renos because a home game would be a banker, and the away game later in the season likewise
Spurs (A) - draw: because that's what usually happens at WHL I think (probably wrong...)
Leicester (H) - win: we beat them at home in their title winning season and they'll be worse/we'll be better this year
Chelsea (A) - loss: they'll be tough to beat at SB this year. 1-0 home win.

8 points, good result given the balance of home/away fixtures and four tough opponents.

8 pts. Obviously hope for all 15.

Arsenal are vulnerable.
If Burnley come on to us with the crowd egging them on then they'll get beat. Let's hope they don't play too cautious.
We don't yet look solid enough to avoid a lose but after a couple of games that could change.

Hard start so keeping to 2 points a game will be difficult, if we can then great.

Good Start

Burnley - 3

oh - I get it! The old 'one week at a time' caper!!! Right you are, son! ...sensible...sensible...

So OK - how many of the remaining 111 points are we going to get????  8) 8) 8)

I reckon 84 - giving us a good 'catch-us-if-you-can' target of 87 points for the season!!! (we would surely get more but for those bloody Capitol One and FA Cup runs - still, mind you, who's ever going to knock back a treble, eh?...eh??)

Giving Paddy Power a quick call now... all up; all up   ;)

Slow start this year I think, new players to get accustomed.
Panic will set in, the usual suspects will be out in force playing fuck.
However, once we get the first 5/6 games out of the way I think we'll get ourselves together and start handing some tonkings out.

Already have more points than this amazing prediction  ;D

Arsenal
Burnley -3
Tottenham
Leicester
Chelsea

Four of these teams need to be considered top half sides. As per usual, I expect us to beat the rest, home and away. Based on that, I expect 3 points vs Burnley. Everything else is a bonus. Meaning we have a great opportunity in those first few games. We can get off to a good start and be 'ahead of schedule'.

If we stand on 7 points after five games, that would be really good.

So far, after 2 games we're +/- 0 the way I see it. Need another win and draw from Spurs, Leicester and Chelsea. Then it's easier to see what we need:

Hull - 3
Swansea - 3

Arsenal (A) - win: they always start badly (didn't they lose against Villa last year?) so this is the best time to go to Emirates
Burnley (A) - draw: on the other hand, this is the worst time for a bigger club to travel to a promoted side. This will be a small hidden cost of the stadium renos because a home game would be a banker, and the away game later in the season likewise
Spurs (A) - draw: because that's what usually happens at WHL I think (probably wrong...)

Chelsea (A) - loss: they'll be tough to beat at SB this year. 1-0 home win.

8 points, good result given the balance of home/away fixtures and four tough opponents.

OK then, guess we're one point off the pace I'd set, but the general vibe has played out as I expected.

I think we're a fair chance at Chelsea, having seen how they've performed so far. Heard on the BBC today that they've failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 11 home games in all competitions. Hopefully they don't get that sorted out too soon, as there's no better road team than Liverpool when it comes to exploiting shaky defences. Maybe we can right the balance there.
