I've always wanted the top of the shankly gates on my hip but everyone tells me they wouldn't be able to do it small, it'd have to be huge across my back of something.

Anyone know if this is true?

Gotta get one done now after I made three bets saying I'd get it if we won in Istanbul ;D

thats probably about right mate, it would distort the image to have it that small, i reckon a big shanks gate across your back would look class though, might be a few bob though best asking around for prices.
dont be caught backing out of a bet now monty :D

Haha! I told my mum that I was getting a tattoo the other day (I wasn't really, but I know how much she hates them, so I told her to wind her up). I've just sent her this picture by email for a laugh, pretending it's me! ;D ;D ;D

i've already decided me next tattoo....top of the shankly gates all across the bottom of me back (in a few years like)

to tha person who was on about it on their hip don't know how small you want it but there are some dead fine needles that will be able to do some fine detail like on the outline of the tattoo

You would think when you get to my age you would stop getting tattoo's, but I must be honest, I actually like designing tattoo's.
Just wish I hadn't bothered with all the small crappy ones I have up my arms.

To the poster about having one on the back. Surprisingly it doesn't hurt as much as other areas.
ie. Inside your arms or on the chest.

I'm currently playing with a new design, but dont know whether I'll ever get it done. Would fill my back.

without wishing to sound like yer father
wait !
Most people actually regret getting tattoo's in the long run.
When you do decide to get one, choose your design very carefully
who you love now may not be in your life always.
Save for a big design rather than buy cheap little shitty ones.

Take a long hard look at others designs and ask where they got them.
there are some real dodgy geezers pretending to be tattooists nowadays.

I have my arms, legs and back done.
But while wearing a shirt you wouldn't know.
If you get one make sure it's coverable by clothing for times you dont want tattoo's seen.

Anyone who tells you tattoo's dont hurt is a wind up merchant.
Go along and have a look at some of the faces on people getting them done.
They might put on a brave face, but watch them sweat and twitch

Wish I'd had that advice at 16, it would've saved me the grand plus I spent getting mine taken off.
Someone mentioned the tattooist in Birkenhead, if he's still around I'd suggest you look him up. He did one for me that had hardly faded 15 years on. I got 2 done in New Brighton that came off with only a few laser treatments, but that f*cking Brokenheader cost me about 800 quid!
If you're gonna get one done, get it done properly, but don't do anything when you're a teenager that you'll be stuck with for the rest of your life. And no birds names ffs!

I had a liverbird done on my face a few years back, at a party (kiddies face paint) looked boss mate.  It was the day I met jonny vegas, he seemed to like it to but I still aint got a proper one.

My arl fellah while serving in the forces, used to get a tattoo done wherever he was posted.
Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaya etc

I thought it was a great idea as it told a story of his life.

Then he showed me the knife he had down one of his legs,
I was lost ? he said when he wore shorts it looked like he had a knife down his sock
(giggling like a schoolboy) he asked what d'ya think

I said I think you must have smoked too much weed.

He told me a story one night about his army days, when we were out on the real ale.
The story.... The Vicar, The showgirl and the Crout
will have to stay a pub tale tho

Which was the most painful, Karl?

always found the inside of the forearm the most sensitive area.

Thought my upper back was least painful.

But they all hurt. People just dont like admitting it.

For the novice who has yet to get a tattoo.
Think of this, there is a needle going in and out of your arm at the speed of a sewing machine, but instead of thread it deposits ink.
Would you put your finger in a running sewing machine ?

I have one on my right arm- and yes, it hurt like hell. The analogy with a sewing machine is spot on- and because there are so  many colous in mine, I just got used to the pain in one area before he went back and added another shade to a previous area. I asked about the pain because the lad who did mine was Welsh Champion or something, so had a reputation to uphold- and for the first one he refuses to do the chest. he reckons many pass out or walk away with it still half-done: he says there are more people walking around with semi-completed tatoos under their shirts than anyone would ever guess  :D

Got one on the inside of the forearm, hurt twice as much as any of the others. I've heard the inner thigh is a killer as well.

I got mine done last week - have been thinking about it for about 3 years so didn't rush into it . I got it on my lower back so hopefully it won't sag too much with age ...also it's not on show that much.
The outline hurt quite a lot and the guy had to stop and give me a few minutes to recover - I went all dizzy . After the outline was done it was fine - the colouring in was no problem .
Cost me £30 and took about 30 minutes. I took the design in to make sure I got a Liverbird and not a Goose or something !

Thanks - It's healing up nicely now ....one thing nobody has mentioned is the aftercare of your tattoo . It needs washing 4 times a day and a cream ( Lasonil or Preparation H ) putting on regularly - this is to prevent infection and ensures you have a nice even tattoo after. You need to do this for 10 to 15 days after the tattoo - something to bear in mind if you are thinking about going on holiday soon too is that you can't sunbathe or go swimming while it is healing.
