Absolutely shits himself here, it's fucking hilarious.

Love it when I see his name on the teamsheet when he comes here. Gets absolutely pelted, has a shit game and then gets subbed off every time if I remember correctly.
Loving Everton's business this summer. Here's an early call - they finish above Liverpool this season.

Didn't like the way he left.

Good player though. Can't say I wouldn't like to see, just for one game, him playing in Bobby's role with Mane and Salah either side. The pace on it ;D defences would shit their pants.

Happy with everyone we do have though so fuck him and the agent he rode out on :P

Could just get Pulisic who's a better version of Sterling.
Thank Fowler we're not getting Caulker

Think he's proven a lot of people wrong over the course of this season but he really does shit himself when he comes back to Anfield. One day he'll put in a good performance and it'll stop. In the meantime, of course we'll keep hounding him.

That's how Anfield should be; hostile, unforgiving, unrelenting, aggressive.

Absolutely shits himself here, it's fucking hilarious. And yeah it probably would have stopped a long time ago under normal circumstances but it gets to him so much it will continue until he finally does something.  ;D

There was a Man City fan on the 5 Live phone-in last night saying how we should stop booing Sterling now as it had got old. For a start, tell that to your fellow fans still harping on about Gerrard, and secondly, why the fuck would we when it so blatantly affects his performance? We're not there to be all nice to the poor lamb. Fuck him.

As everyone else has said, f**k him. What does he or the City fans expect after the way he left us???

It's just a pity we can't put other players off their game so easy.

I remember England playing a friendly against Ireland in 2015. The Ireland fans booed him throughout the entire time he was on the pitch and he was dog shit. He's clearly mentally weak in that respect and seems to let stuff like that affect him.

At times I think that we should stop booing him and focus more on our own players but why fix something that isn't broken? ;D

3rd him or his agent gave LFC dogs abuse to get his move to City. So he shouldn’t be surprised that paying fans who love the club have taken offence at his antics while breaking his contract

I don't particularly resent Sterling any more - lot of time has passed, we've moved on, don't care about him any more (though I can certainly understand why others would want to boo him!).

But City fans saying our fans should stop booing him should probably stop booing James Milner first. You know, James Milner, the guy who was an important part of the squad for the most successful seasons in their history and who is widely known as a model professional. Clowns.

Think they may have started the Milner booing when he absolutely went for it with a celebration after scoring against them :lmao  i could be wrong though

Sterlings still a prick, a lot of the stuff said about him on here is ridiculous though, people claiming he's regressed and he's poor is just OTT. Soon as Guardiola was announced it was 'that's the end of sterling' 'he wont get in the side' when in reality he was always going to be in their side under him if you look at the wide players he's used previously

He'll always be a wanker for the way he left, conducted himself in an embarassing manner and city fans calling for us not to boo him is hilarious

His overall game has improved a lot under Pep.

I don't think his finishing is amazing, but their system, and his great movement means he gets so many chances.

20 goals already, on track to clear 25 this season. Phenomenal return for a 23 year old wide forward.

He'd have been amazing under Klopp tbf. Turns out the move worked out for him after all, the little shit.

His movement always stood out, I remember thinking that since the first few times he played for us at 17. Obviously even better now when he's older, more experienced and playing for a much better manager as well. But he played upfront against Chelsea in the league cup in 14/15 I think it was, it was clear he had it even then. It was a very impressive performance for a youngster playing out of position, his balance and movement meant Cahill couldn't handle him at all, and he scored a very good goal too.

Shame he left, but we've moved on well with Klopp, Mane and Salah so it doesn't really matter much right now. We could certainly use a similar player though, hope we get one in the summer.

Turning into the top player he was always going to be, although that may have stalled under Pelligrini. When Klopp arrived here it may have looked like Sterling had made the wrong move as he would have flourished under Jurgen but with Guardiola there now he has got a bit of luck.

Anyone who was saying he wasn't that great or didn't have that high a ceiling was sour grapes stuff imo. It was so bad people were deluded enough to think Ibe could be better (I think initally I tried to convince myself the same but quickly realised that was nonsense).

Don't really miss him as a Liverpool player though as there was no affection and he didn't have many great appearances or memories in our shirt.

He is doing alright but still sucks lemons of course ;) It does suck how agents get their players distracted and acting up so they can get a move as it left a sour taste in our mouths but its part & parcel of the game these days. Not too sure how great QPR felt when we decided to buy him back in 2010 after developing him into a bit of a 16 year old prodigy but Im sure they did alright financially and we were thrilled with stealing 50m off City. Always thought he was quality and had plenty of goals in his game even though he misses some great chances as well. 15 goals and 6 assists at 23 .....probably worth a lot more than 50m now but still a bit of a dick but hey ho thats standard these days with ex-players who leave us.

Out of curiosity, anyone mind giving their impression of how & when things broke down with player & club?  I never followed the breakdown but I do remember him after he was first signed and had minutes with the youth team - his quality was obvious.  Then I sort of lost track of what happened to him but always felt he had great potential.  Of course, I wasn't sure he'd get as good as he is currently or where he might end up eventually - he's improved considerably from last season and has little to do with the goals

I often wonder this myself, and have looked into it - blame is on Rodgers and the club for lowballing him with shite contract offers - when we finally got our act together and offered a decent deal the damage had been done and Man City came in and blew our best deal out of the water. However had we offered him something similar to our best deal at the start I strongly suspect he'd have signed.

Some quotes from Rodgers;

"I had Raheem Sterling playing for England and a regular in the Liverpool first team on Ł2,000 per week.

"I couldn't do it any longer than about the November time because he was absolutely brilliant, so we had to get him on a different contract. But I stretched it out as long as I could."

He then earned 35k per week after that until his move to City where he's on a reported 180k a week

Seems we haven't learned much from it as we're about to lose Can for what I fear are similar reasons, at least with Sterling we got a fair price of around 50mil, for Can we'll get 0.

"We must turn from doubters into believers" - Jurgen Klopp

I've got a feeling that Origi is the real deal, from a couple of games I watched but mainly his interviews there seems to be something about him.

Love the idea that Brendan Rodgers was remotely involved in contract discussions  ;D
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Money obviously played a massive part in it (and that's not judging him in any way - 99.999% of people would leave their own company for that kind of pay rise).

But he's also clearly an ambitious guy and, at the time we were in a bad place and City were a better prospect football-wise than us.

Both clubs have improved massively since those days and, with hindsight, he's probably looking back thinking he made the right decision from a football point of view given 1) how good City are, 2) how big a part he's playing in their success - he's not a peripheral squad member making up the numbers and 3) how much improvement he's made as a player under Pep (although Klopp would likely have done the same).

Just like when he ditched QPR for us, he chose money, development and likelihood of success. Which we'd probably all do if playing for a club we don't support.

Heard that this morning on the 5 Live Podcast. Think he's got a wider point to be fair, but it did make me laugh when he said he thrives on boos. His performances at Anfield beg to differ and hopefully both the boos and his struggles continue next week.

Him being on the bench had to be because of how he handles being at Anfield.

Love how the kop found an extra bit of volume in the booing and jeering for him. Tried to play simple passes rather than attack.

Guardiola shouldn't rely on him too much. He's their weakest link in attack. Yes, he has scored goals, but also costed them in some games.

The issue with sterling is that he can't be the main man. He will look very good if there are others carrying the pressure of the team (like surarez did for us or aguro/jesus for man city).

His first touch is bad. He does not know how to compose (or position himself) to shoot the ball when he is inside the box. The worst of all is that he is f**king selfish and hardly passes the ball to his colleagues who  are in better position.

Guardiola has done miracles with him this season. If england wants to get far in the world cup....they are better off using OX instead of sterling.

I think Trevor Noah sums it up well.

The amount of times he had me screaming in frustration when missing simple chances for us is now offset by the mirth generated doing the same thing for City.

What`s the definition of "world class?" Shouldn`t that be a player who has the ability to perform on the highest level in world football?
