The 2018-2019 Relegation Thread - (The Relegation League)
« on: January 22, 2018, 10:10:35 pm »
With 6 points separating Watford (10th in the league) and Swansea (20th), 8 if you lob in Everton at 9th, which three do you think are most likely to get relegated?

Swansea has won 2 in last 5 and West Brom is drawing enough to claw their way out of the relegation spots. I think the promoted sides will find themselves in the pits in February.

Who knows really, they're all as bad as each other in my opinion. I'd go with Huddersfield, Brighton and Swansea if pressed but 2 or 3 wins can vault you up the table.

20th - Brighton
19th - Swansea
18th - Watford

I think Southampton would go down if they kept Pellegrino but surely he'll be gone very soon

Probably, as we play them in three weeks time. 'Tis traditional for a club to sack their manager and install a new one shortly before playing us.

At least Brighton are trying to fix that by getting a couple of strikers.

Swansea, Huddersfield look most likely, and probably one of Stoke, Brighton or Newcastle.

Huddersfield have got NOTHING. They have a run of games after the Mancs, which will determine their fate. But they can't score, they don't create much, the let in a lot of goals, they just look bereft.

Bottom half of the table is mental.

Tonights results (from my point of view)  I'm pleased Huddersfield got roasted, pleased West Ham and Palace played a draw, didn't expect at all that Swansea would get 3 points off Arsenal and those 3 points now puts them on 23 the same as us.

Never mind, Rafa might sign 6 players from Barcelona in the morning. . . . . . hold on a minute, I just seen something fly past my window . . . . h'mmm, it was a pig.   Pity it wasn't the salad dodger being thrown off the roof huh.     :wanker

It's really tough to say who will go down. Anyone from 9th down could very conceivably be relegated, it's very open down there.

I think both Huddersfield and Brighton will go down - both are diabolical going forwards, and not exactly watertight at the back, either. Hodgson and Moyes have done good jobs for their clubs, and I can't see Palace or West Ham going down. I'm (relatively) local to Saints and Bournemouth, so try and watch them when I can, and I think both have enough to stay up. I can't see Rafa being relegated, and Swansea look to have found some decent form. West Brom and Stoke need to start picking up points quickly, and Watford seem to have been stuck on about 25 points for ages.

I really hope Everton get dragged properly into this dogfight. ;D

Which is a huge pity. The Owl has found his level - taking a shit team and making them just enough less shit to stay up. If Moyes steers West Ham to safety, he'll be insufferable - and I wish the Dildo Twins nothing but bad stuff.

Them two and Everton going down would be the dream ticket.

West Brom look a bit fucked. Got 5 of the top 6 in their remaining games, assuming they can't fluke a win against any of them (Although one is against us) they probably need to win at least 5 of the other 9 games left, hard to see that happening.

Guessing West Brom, Brighton and probably Huddersfield.

Huddersfield look doomed at this moment. I’d say they have no goals in them but they’ve scored as many as Burnley (only 19, which makes Burnley’s position even weirder).

Things can change quickly and there’s a few sides there showing signs of life. Currently Huddersfield, Southampton look the most doomed. Newcastle have only lost to City (albeit twice) in their last six. West Brom have shown signs of recovery. Stoke probably have more quality than most teams around them. Maybe Brighton are most at risk?

Who knows, will change every week. Everton getting sucked in would be great. Not far away points wise but hard to see 9 teams below them catching them between now and the end of the season sadly.

Yeah me too, I can't see how the hell they are going to score enough to scrape enough points the way they are going.

I was thinking watching that game last night, that from a purely human level, I'm glad for Jürgen Klopp that it isn't Liverpool that's in that group of their last games of the season, imagine going to Huddersfield and that being the result that ended up being the one that sent them down. Sure it's all business and getting the points is what matters, but hell, that'd be a bit of a shitty feeling on a personal level!

Reckon it'll be less than that. The bottom 3 in terms of points. 20 points, 25 points, 26 points. 27 games in. That's under a point per game, 38 games a year, would mean on current trajectory less than 38 points.

West Brom look down and out unless they win the next 3 out of 4 or 5. Lose a couple of more and the morale will take such a hit that they will be done for. Palace is difficult to tell, they could lose the next three and possibly four out of the five matches and find themselves in the bottom three as well.
