Pray for Joel.

He won’t be able to play every three days though. It will be Joe/Joel one game then someone else will have to play.

And this is why you need four senior centre-backs. We saw it with Man City last season. Hopefully, Fabinho recovers quickly and Matip too

We have 4 great CB options, probably no other topclub has as good options as we have, we just been extremely unlucky with injuries. Which good CB would have voluntarily chilled behind our Top 3 + Fab?

This discussion is just not good imo, VVD usually played every game (even in the cups and CL) and probably wouldn't have gotten injured if this Moron in Evertons Goal wasnt so reckless...

I want to see us start the young guys, we might lose some games, but buying players and getting the squad bloated is just not what i want to see, but maybe thats just me.

We have 4 great CB options, probably no other topclub has as good options as we have, we just been extremely unlucky with injuries. Which good CB would have voluntarily chilled behind our Top 3 + Fab?

In a season with a condensed schedule, plus a worldwide pandemic causing players to isolate having a 4th choice was must as an insurance policy. Yes, VVD had been relatively injury free, but we were taking a massive gamble given the fitness of Matip and Gomez.  Even though VVD's injury was due to Pickford's challenge, he's hardly had a chance to rest.  At some point, there was a likelihood he'd be out for a while.

So has Gini. Thing is though that this robs us from midfield players quickly - Fab is out, Hendo/Gini as CB, who's gonna play MF?

Which is the other problem we're now facing

To be fair, hamstring injuries to liverpool players are generally a month atleast (because of medical team/Klopp handling and getting back players only when they are good for high intensity). So, if Fabinho is back right after the international break, it is still reasonable (plus he gets to avoid whatever needless travel the Brazil team is doing).

Hendo and Gini can fill in at the back but teams are gonna murder us on set pieces. Our only proper CB, who happens to be the tallest, is not even good on the air. We better prepare to outscore opponents because we're surely gonna concede more than we usually do.

Looking at our back line, it seems we have enough ball playing ability and speed, but will definitely concede chances to aerial attacks.... Maybe the opportunity for a breakthrough this season might be to any young gun who can fkin head the ball!

Massive opportunity for the younger lads to stake a claim as the 4th choice CB. Matip could yet return but I think he'd be targeting minutes against Atalanta and a return against Man City, depending on how Fabinho fares. This will also affect our midfield balance depending on where Fabinho is played.

To be fair, it used to just be a midweek round of friendlies unless it was a World Cup year. Now teams are off playing 3 games and away for 2 weeks.

My main concern with Fabinho is Brazil will rush him back next month. Especially if we risk him against City.
