Poor first half. Second half, we looked a bit better but the end product wasn't there. Reina's mistake could have been much more costly. Thankfully it wasn't as Suarez turned the game all by himself as he placed a great shot to save us from heading towards extra time.

All in all. A win when we don't play well. I think we all could live with that.

Not a great performance from Liverpool at all. Second half was a lot better, but very few chances and felt like they were rushing too much instead of keeping calm and keeping possession. Not a first team, but I think there is very much a need for another player in the final third. Sterling was excellent and Morgan showed promise. MOTM: Allen or Suarez.

He got it in the end, but watching Suarez at the point of the attack is the most frustrating thing ever. When will we learn he should not be the main striker.

My only regret is we couldn't take of Gerrard and Suarez earlier.
Carra and to a lesser extent Kelly aren't suited to possession football.
Downing was surprisingly good at left back.
Morgan isn't ready.

Some observations:

1. When things are going bad Gerrard loses all discipline. It used to work when he was younger, now all he does is cede possession and initiative.

2. Suarez needs to learn how to work himself into games. When something does not come off, he just tries for the more difficult pass or trick and his performance on the pitch becomes more and more shambolic. Brilliant goal mind.

3. Wtf has happened to Riena? A poor season last year and seems like he has not shaken it off.

4. Henderson was class, and the only midfielder playing the killer pass. Clearly wasted out wide, and perhaps should start more games in the league too.

Utterly lucky tonight. There's not much else to say other than credit to hearts who were excellent over 2 legs. We've played really poorly over the 2 legs and won. Can't wait to see the horrific group we draw tomorrow.

We were better in the second half and their 1-0 goal was a complete gift.

Suarez does things a bit too difficult at times but pure brilliance at the 1-1 goal. Shelvey looking very comfortable and had a good game. Joe Allen continued his fine start to his LFC career. Sterling gave us some much needed energy off the bench.

Morgan had a poor night, though. But he's still very, very young.
