Needs further. Traveled into the race nicely but just couldn't quicken but was plugging on at the end.

If Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy can keep this up in the next that would be sound. Of course I'm sure now I'm backing them they'll fall at the last :D

I was waiting for my free bet to come through to put on an E/W at 10/1 - think they're paying each way at 1/5 so missed out on £40!

So - any tips by anyone on the next couple of races?

Real stinker of a race for me that one, spent about £50 on 4 or 5 horses, and not even a place, with 6 place.

All the favourites are just being held up and the grounds too wank to make it up quickly, Santini would've pissed that had he gone a lot earlier.

Some punters think bookmakers are up or down based on the SPs returned. If a few well fancied favourites win people go 'oh a bad day for the bookies' etc or the bookies are smiling now when a 33/1 winner lands.
Maybe so to an extent with the independent layers in the ring but the thing is nowadays with the exchanges and so many of the big firms in bed with each other they have all their potential losses well covered and are already hugely in profit from vast over-rounds in each race especially in these big meetings where they clean up every year with the 'mug' punters who only bet on the big meetings etc.
There's little to trouble them in today's markets.
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Tony McCoy said yesterday that he hates the phrase 'they did it the hard way' in relation to horses leading and winning from the front. He said he always loved being out in front because he could dictate the pace and set the fractions. A perfect example of that was Johnson's ride there, he had it in control the whole way and he knew Native River would get up that hill.

Spot on there with the over-rounds. All races bar the first over 120%, with 4 0ver at 130%. Meanwhile loads of punters get restricted online to pennies.
You say Honey? I say Fuck off.

There is another option. Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple.

Spot on. That’s why it’s essential to be clever as a punter and shop around for best prices. The price you’re backing at is everything. I literally backed 3 winners this week but was in profit, that was purely down to Bleu Berry and Corals being 33/1 whilst he was 25s everywhere else. I was 8.5 points up for the week, if I’d taken the 25s I’d have only been 0.5pts up. Price is everything and punters definitely need to educate themselves on overrounds to become more successful.

Anyway back to normality today and I fancy Get On The Yager to win the Midlands National at Uttoxeter. He’s got a lovely profile for the race and both times he’s run at 3 miles plus over fences he’s won including on heavy. He had a spin around at 2.5 miles which I think was just a prep for this and ran very creditibily. The Skelton horses are running well enough and they’ll be on a high after landing the county hurdle yesterday. 13/2 will do for me.

Ante post wager for next Saturday in the Lincoln. Escobar is 33/1 with Paddy Power, no idea why they have him at such a big price. It’ll be his first start for O’Meara who won the race in a similar fashion with Bravery. He’s been transferred from Hugo Palmer who thought he had classic credentials leading into his 3 year old season. He’s off a mark of 97 which should see him get in right at the bottom of the handicap. I fully expect this to be his big target for the season with anything after being a bonus.
