I think it makes a lot of sense to split Season 2 up in to two parts with shorter episode counts. There's a lot of extra story they could flesh out and I've no idea how they could include the Pearl Jam song in Season 2 at this point.

The biggest worry for me will be Druckman's insistence that The Last of Us Part III would come out before any narrative was adapted to a TV show. Now while I am sure Part III is being worked on, it doesn't seem likely to be out until 2026 at the earliest. HBO will want 4-5 seasons of the show

Just announced that HBO have renewed The Last of Us for a second season.

Unsurprising, but a very, very fast renewal. Looking forward to seeing who they cast as Abby.

Shannon Berry is rumored to be Abby.

Shannon Berry is rumored to be Abby.

I've seen these rumours, but they feel a bit tenuous based on seemingly on the fact that Druckmann follows her on Instagram. Gives me a similar vibe to when people were fancasting Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Kaitlyn Dever as Joel and Ellie.

Not watched episode 3 yet, or played the game.. please tell me Nick Offerman is Ron Swanson-like? ;D

That was a great episode though once again prologue kicks the crap out of the present story.

I’m guessing the granularity of Bill and Frank’s relationship is artistic licence but I’ve never seen the game.

Spoiler
Kinda, it is implied in the game at least twice (despite some of the outrage Ive seen) but the show does extrapolate.  The prologue moved things on a lot on my opinion, Joel warms towards Ellie at the end and obviously she now has a gun

Haven't watch the 2nd and 3rd episodes, I really liked the first episode, and the games are in my opinion the best written games of all time, so I'm now debating if I want to just wait and binge it, or go ahead and start to watch it week to week.

It's good to hear that the last two episodes have been as good or better than the first one.

Not played the game but for me, its a show that is lending itself well to one episode a week. It would be a bit intense to binge I think! Need a while to recover from what I've just watched.

Yeah same. Agree with someone saying it needs ‘recovery time’ after an episode too. I felt

Great to see that they can finally tell the full story that the game didn’t allow them to.

Incredible episode that fleshed out a minor character in the game and also gave them even more purpose overall.

Fantastic episode.

Pity it's to late for TV awards season,  brilliant acting from Offerman and Bartlett.
"Since its purchase by the sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Manchester City has managed to cheat its way into the top echelon of European football and create a global, immensely profitable football empire, ignoring rules along the way. The club's newfound glory is rooted in lies."

Ha, we are watching White Lotus in between TLOU drops so seeing Murray Bartlett will be a trip.

Good to hear they're fleshing out some of the storylines you learn snippets of in the game via artefacts. They enrich the game, but would make boring TV if Joel and Ellie just read notes to each other.

FFS  :butt

So I sometimes also post on a (video-game-related) discord server, where they also have a sub-channel for TLOS and where we've now been having a heated discussion about this latest episode.

I'm one of the older guys in there, and some of those young lads are really doing my head in right now. I mean, while 90 percent of the internet seems to agree that we've just witnessed one of the greatest hours of television in years, they're in there slagging it off to no end, complaining about how "instead of action and thrills we only got a boring gay romance that went on for far too long and has nothing to do with Joel & Ellie."

And I've now spent way too many hours already picking apart their arguments (without them ever aknowledging a single counter-argument of mine and some of the like-minded folk!). I am at the point where I'm screaming, in my head, at my monitor, and I can't even explain why I'm so passionate about this.

But I simply could not let their "1/10 this episode ruined the entire show" comments stand  :wanker

I think you just have to accept that c*nts are c*nts and always will be.
They have to live their miserable lives and that’s all the punishment you can give them.
They’re overwhelmingly in the wrong. Well done for trying. But an Internet forum is just not the place. In the real world, they’re mute.
