It depends on how they want to run the club really… as others have mentioned, stats paint a fraction of the picture when it comes to hiring managers. We have no idea what other parameters the club will use to hire the next man.

True that he’s ostensibly not a good fit from many angles (youth development, play style), the only way you could see it happening is if we’ve had some encouragement from Alonso’s camp for next year and we’re looking for a stop gap who can win some trinkets/squeeze some more out of our elder statesmen along the way.

This is a very good point. Amorim's stats put him way ahead of other candidates, but his formation is a bit of a variation from where our squad is and he tends to stick with it. My guess is that the tactical flexibility and use of existing resources is coming into play, aka you come here and get what you're given. I think that would rule out quite a few and definitely enhance the appeal of others. Alonso, of course, was perfect and as you said, might still be. I'm thinking who could be a decent stop gap, either for him in 12 months or even perhaps a returning messiah. At this point it appears all options are on the table, but there has definitely been something going on for sure and I reckon we'll hear nothing until someone is holding up a scarf. I still think that the news a while back about the agreement with Amorim was true, but a real fuck up of a leak has blown it and the club has slammed the door shut to prevent anything else escaping.

Why would we appoint an interim manager ?

We won't have a manager so somebody will have to do the job.

If our top choice or choices are not available then why would we appoint a manager who we don't think is good enough?

I can see how that’s annoying. Trying to think of an England equivalent but there isn’t really. Zaha maybe but respect his decision, and he was on the fringes for England never did any performative stuff either.

It's compounded by the fact that Ireland are abysmal now, and Rice and Grealish would've had a completely transformative effect if they had played for us

England always have good players, so even if it did happen to them, missing out on a couple of players - even very good ones like Rice and Grealish - wouldn't make a huge difference.

But even leaving that to one side, just for the way he carried on, Rice is definitely someone who is hugely disliked in Ireland, and he completely deserves that in my opinion.

No the emery thing just got posted coincidentally at the same time, but i wouldnt mind him just doubt he would leave villa right now. I wanted xabi but would have settled for amorim. Now id take tuchel as theres basically no good managers left on the list.

I still think there’s a chance of Amorim.

I’d probably have De Zerbi as 2nd choice. I think with a better quality squad he’d remove some of the defensive concerns around him.

3rd choice I’d rather have Frank, Slot, Motta or even Rose/Hoeness above likes of Tuchel. I think Tuchel is too divisive when we may need more of a steady hand post Klopp (or at least someone who is in step with Hughes and Edwards).

I’m relaxed since there’s managers out there. All have risk but that’s not changed since Klopp announced his departure.

I feel like the cosmic world is gong to prove my coping shouts of Zidane not being a proper manager will come true in the cruelest of fashions when he takes over and shits the bed.

 on Ruben Amorim:

"My information is that a move by Liverpool for Amorim is now regarded as unlikely. That will come as a surprise to many who thought that he might have been nailed on because of the reports that have emerged, particularly in Portugal, but those reports were not replicated over here."

Ornstein: "Our information has always been that yes, Ruben Amorim is in the conversation for Liverpool, but he’s not a shoo-in. They are running a thorough and methodical process that is considering a number of candidates to fit what they want in terms of the profile and the key criteria.

Ornstein: "They won’t be afraid to be brave and bold in their own decision. It might not be a populist choice right now. It would seem that that might not be Amorim. In terms of whether it will be West Ham, we just cannot say at this point in time. But certainly, it’s a development that not many people saw coming.”

Sounds like he's back tracking a little bit? Saying he means more that it might not be Amorin (some thought it was nailed on) than it won't be Amorin.

So we'll read about a lot of names being rumoured which is probably coming for the mangers' agents. It's a good way to put a bit of pressure on their current club to renew or improve a contract. The same thing happens during the transfer windows.

I still feel that we will not just jump at the "best available" but will appoint an interim manager and wait until we get who we want.

Why would we appoint an interim manager ?

Maybe it could still be Amorim, and there is an ongoing process it's just he's not sitting above all other options. Some of the shouts on here are absolutely mad though.

Oh and the Genius Yoke idea

To be honest, from an engineering perspective, to drive inside the city, the Yoke is an innovative solution.
