I can understand him going for more defensive players on the bench. He is obviously hoping we get our usual fast start and some goals. Then later he has more options about tightening the game up and protecting our lead, especially as we will have to face Sanchez at some stage in the second half.

So they're going direct.

Fair play to Wenger, at least he's trying something different.

Us, not so much.

Why would we change when he already have a pretty good record against the top sides, yes let's completely alter the way we play that has so far has served us well in these games. Jeez the amount of snipes the manager would get then, even more than he's getting at the moment.

Why on earth did we turn down offers for Kev Stewart and then give him a new contract? He's not had a look in since despite Henderson being out.
Presumably it's about player value. Strategic contract.

When you look at our bench it really hits home that Klopp has been platting sawdust this season.
Come on red men, we need a big result.

But we were supposed to have turned down big offers for him. Pointless.

Origi is the only sub we have with pace, it would be useful to have someone like Wilson or Ojo (if fit) to give us a different option

Origi is a totally different player to Firmino. He wants to play this system and he's picked these 3 every time they've been fit

But Lucas isn't as vital to this whole thing clicking as Firmino is he? I suspect Firmino is one of the first names on the teamsheet.

Wenger is doing the smart thing. The only manager in the top 6 to alter the way he plays in order to counter our style.

He had three good standard centre backs, and Klavan who is a decent 4th choice.

Would have preferred Lucas in this game actually. He battles very well and is good in the air. I think he would have preferred a battle against Giroud.

Lovren and Matip have been missing for plenty of games, Sahko (who was my favourite player) clearly did something pretty bad.

Even if we don't win I expect a reaction from the players at the very least. Klopp has shown faith with them and they need to start repaying him. Don't think I can stomach another gutless performance like on Monday night.

So if Giroud won a header or controlled a ball against Lucas, we would have had Iwobi running at him at pace, with a headstart
