I can understand him going for more defensive players on the bench. He is obviously hoping we get our usual fast start and some goals. Then later he has more options about tightening the game up and protecting our lead, especially as we will have to face Sanchez at some stage in the second half.

Agree, but until we know exactly what happened its hard to criticise.
For me the biggest mistake is the lack of investment.
