Nice. I'm trying to just watch 3-4 episodes a week to make it last longer, but it's hard to do. This show is like crack! :)

Haha I was going to post this when I got to the end of this thread. Ruth is my favourite character on TV at the moment. I do like the angle they're going down with her and Wyatt at the moment, looking forward to season 4.

What an ending to season 3 though. Wow.

For me, S3 E9 was perhaps the best episode.

Spoiler
Tom Pelphrey as Ben was incredible. He needs to win an award for that. Heartbreaking. And Laura Linney as Wendy was once again brilliant. You see her torn between the love and understanding for her brother's situation, versus the need to protect her own kids. In the end it was her ruthless side which won out.

Really upsetting as well. For him to portray it that way was brilliant.

One thing that does bother me is that as soon as he showed up, Wendy told him about what they were upto. Given what we found out later about him, that seems like madness.

Spoiler
Ben witnessed Marty getting dragged away from the casino and put into a black SUV. I can't quite remember but either Ruth tells him when they are following the SUV, or he finds out back at the house from the kids -- and he then confronts Wendy. I think the latter is what happened.
[close]

On a side note, there are theories online that the person in my spoiler is still alive since we never actually saw that person getting killed. Only a covered person in a body bag. Plus that person's closest kin never visited the body at the funeral home, which seems odd. But I think that's just wishful thinking -- if Ozark loves one thing, it's killing well-written characters off! ;D  We can probably count on 2 or 3 more of them getting slaughtered in Season 4.

Speaking of, which dead character do you wish was still alive? Use spoilers!

Spoiler
Jacob Snell. To me he was a more well-rounded character than his crazy wife. I think he would have continued to be an interesting counterweight to the cartel and the FBI, and also to the KC mob. I miss Ben, Buddy, Helen and Del too. Such a great cast. Couldn't stand Agent Petty -- I was ready to put a bullet in him myself!

I haven't see this mentioned, but there's a big complaint/problem in Holywood about middle-aged and older women not getting the parts and recognition they deserve. Well this show has 3 of the best "older" women I have ever seen, and in one TV show -

Darlene, who right from her first scene in S1 with the lemonade and subsequent injection is one of the scariest female characters I have ever seen
Helen - very convincing and authoritarian
Wendy - her performance in the last few episodes of S3 100% deserve to get an Emmy.

I like is that there is dark humour at the right time (eg Wyatt having to meet Darlene's mum :-) ) and for the most part people behave rationally - especially Ruth who always seems to do and say exactly what I would in her situation. The one character who annoyed me was Charlotte in S2 but she has come round and is OK now.

The other thing about this show is that there are no "Peggy Sue" characters. An example of this is at the end of Breaking Bad when Walt becomes the A-Team and McGuyver rolled into one, but so far in Ozark there are no characters who have been positioned in this way. Marty could so easily have been written to be a super-genius with a sneaky hidden plan to solve all problems, but so far they have avoided that very well whilst still making him look intelligent.

It's a great show.

Regarding dead characters who I wish were still alive:
Spoiler
Definitely Jacob Snell. I think the way the KC mob, Darlene, Wyatt and Ruth are being positioned versus the Byrds & Navarro going into S4 would be even better with Jacob still about. It doesn't hurt that I think Peter Mullan is a fantastic actor. Also enjoyed the mental FBI agent Petty but him leaving when he did was probably the right time.

Good analysis.

Certainly agree about strong women characters - Wendy really emerges in S2 and just gets better.

While I miss the likes of Jacob I guess Peter Mullan may have other fish to fry. Also, these multi-season shows very deliberately make seasons feel different to previous ones. They look to evolve and stay fresh which means big plot points lead to a switch of pace and direction. New characters and protagonists emerge. Ozark has sustained for this reason. Nothing is stale.

Split into two parts :(

Quote from: digital spy
Today (June 30), Netflix finally gave them what they wanted on Twitter by confirming the series will be returning for a fourth and final season – and it's also been revealed that the fourth season will be split into two seven-episode halves.

I had to rewatch that scene straight away, she is fucking superb  ;D

Finished the 3rd season, I think it was better than what came before it. Superb throughout, brilliantly tense too. Saw the ending coming from a mile off, but thoroughly enjoyable. Shame it'll only get one more season but I expect it to be great.

Is that right? Shame if so as it's a great show, but maybe a good thing for the show's legacy. Breaking Bad - a similar show in many ways - is the best ever for me because it went out at its peak. Ozark could sit in that company if they get it right.

It’s only won 8 so far. Four for acting, 3 technical and one for its trailer, as that is a thing, apparently.

It's a brilliant show, deserving of all those awards, but in a way I'm glad to hear it's ending with an extended 4th season. That seems the right amount of time for a show like this considering the FBI have been on to them from day 1. And I was also hurt in the past by shows that I initially loved that became shit due to overstaying their welcome (Dexter, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, House of Cards to name a few).

Not sure if this is the right thread...

Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes have started a new podcast - Smartless. Each one takes it in turn to invite a guest that the other two do not know about and they chat to them. Listened to the first podcast last night - it was with Dax Shepherd. Thought it was OK for a first one - funny in parts and they are obviously all quite close, so there were some good stories.

Woah!! Just got around to finishing S3

I had this notion just before the end that...

Spoiler
Jonah had intercepted Marty's bogus FBI confession Helen had in her house just prior to getting on the plane for Mexico.  Then I thought Helen would try and present it to Navarro and it wouldn't be there.

Still a bit unsure as to why Navarro had to have Helen killed to be honest, rather than just telling her to back-off and leave the Byrd's to get on with things?

Unless there's a reveal in S4, I don't quite see what Helen did to get herself killed?

No matter, It was a jaw dropping execution.

Can't actually read anything that's in the last couple of pages of this thread*, but just felt like this deserved a bump for anyone who might be interested but may not yet have watched it - I'm 4 episodes into the third season and absolutely gripped by it.  I'm not a binger, so I tend to only watch one episode at a time, but I find myself checking the episode time over & over during the last twenty minutes or so - willing each episode not to end!

I'll check back in in a few months time and discover that everyone hates it ;D

(*I miss the days when - even if watching something weeks/months/years after the event - you could 'read along with RAWK' using the episode & post dates as your guide...  :sad)

One of my favourite shows at the moment, if you haven't watched it you really should give it a go...

On a separate note, I'm new to these forums and I noticed people posting spoilers in a couple of these types of topics but I can't figure out for the life of me how to view them. Can anyone help?

Just click on the word spoiler mate :)

If you want to post a spoiler then it's
(without the space) and
(without the space) with your sentence in between the two

Spoiler
Here's one I made earlier!

Also, I don't think you can open them if you are not logged in. If you only just registered that may have been the problem.
