Fuck the Smiths Mate, Very rare you hear anyone talk about the Blue Nile. I finally replaced my vinyl version a few years ago and its was nearly £17. Its about £3 on Amazon now. You've got to be really into them, most people say its droney.
Great shout there.
p.s. you in to David Sylvian as well?

Oooooh Yessss :)  his recent albums require dedication but those solo albums from the 80s and 90s and Japans last couple are the stuff of genius ... "Secrets of the Beehive" is an all time classic .... the Rain Tree Crow album is under rated stuff as well

if you reckon the Fripp stuff is hard work you should hear "Blemish" :) Sylvian plays everything on it .... it's ..... unusual :)

Toni who :) ?

just took my own advice and dug out "A Walk Across the Rooftops"   "Tinseltown in the Rain" is a bit of a gem as well... as is "Easter Parade" ... like you say .. you don't hear a lot of people talk about them .. they seem to be a well kept secret now

how about Talk Talk and "Spirit of Eden" ? ever heard it ? Blue Nile is putting me in the mood for it

The Church - "Under the Milky Way"; unlike the US, not a hit here in the UK but got played on Trigger Happy and was in Donnie Darko.

What a song, I adore that song. Did The Church do much else of note?

So much brilliant music.

The Back of Love by Echo & The Bunnymen
Don't You Forget About Me by Simple Minds
Johnny Hit and Run Paulene by X
Every Little Thing She Does is Magic by The Police
Kiss Off by Violent Femmes
Magic Number by De La Soul
Don't Let's Start by They Might Be Giants
Out of Step by Minor Threat
Secret 77 by Bad Brains (Admit it, they were better at hardcore than reggae)
Lockdown by Fugazi
Lorelei by Cocteau Twins
Rio by Duran Duran
Catapult by REM
Colony by Joy Division
Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses
Ashes to Ashes by David Bowie
I Am The Resurrection by The Stone Roses
Frankly Mr Shankly by The Smiths
Just Like Heaven by The Cure

All of Psychocandy by Jesus and Mary Chain and all of Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine. Can't bear to seperate them.

I'm hoping the year tags on my iPod are all correct, can't spot any obvious errors. What a collection of music, I am currently chasing up all suggestions from this thread.

Preferred Its my Life.
Tinseltown (about Hollywood of course) was the big song from an unknown album, but they were all great. Unusually so, Gary Davies, big headed ugly c*nt on radio 1, would play Tinsletown on his show once a week over a couple of months. Really out of sorts with the show and not the done thing on Radio 1 then but he obviously appreciated them.
PS Hats was so, so, so disappointing

Hue & Cry - Remote. Forget "labour of love", single from Seduced and Abandoned, that album and single didn't do justice to the fabulous duo. Get on this entire album !
