2017/2018 Premier League Fixtures
« on: May 26, 2017, 02:17:56 pm »
Mark your calendars.

June 14th

That is when the PL will release next seasons fixtures. All on Saturdays 3pm, to be fcuked up by the TV companies as we go along.  :P

I'll predict we open with West Ham Away and our last match will be Swansea Away.
Either we are a club of supporters or become a club of customers.

Exciting times. See you at 'Title o'klopp'

Newcastle at home could be good. Welcome Benitez back to the Premier League again.

And then thrash em. ;)

Man I hate it when people like Pulis moan about fixture changes for TV. Your club is getting 10m per TV game, this pays everyone's salary at work, what are you complaining about??

It's not so much the movement, it doing it after people have made their plans.

Or sending LFC to Southampton for a 5 pm Sunday kickoff or some such where one can't travel to and back the same day.

Couldn't care less who we play first or last, although I would like them both at home (if not both, then the last game at home).

United at home. It's written in the stars.

My prediction too.
Rafa Benitez: "I'll always keep in my heart the good times I've had here, the strong and loyal support of the fans in the tough times and the love from Liverpool. I have no words to thank you enough for all these years and I am very proud to say that I was your manager. Thank you so much once more and always remember: You'll never walk alone."

1st game - Stoke at home.

We've had Stoke first game twice in 4 seasons, would be some chance if it happened again!

Brighton away in August would do. And if they could stop putting United away on the same weekend as my wife's birthday in January I'd be very grateful.

Brighton away is probably the worst starting fixture we can get imo.  Its awesome for the away fans but playing a recently promoted side on their turf is really hard because the players and the fans will be up for it.

EDIT: We want to play those sides in December because thats the month with most fixture congestion and hopefully FSG and Klopp have learened their lesson and we will be much stronger is depth for the next season.

Unbelievably selfish of me to want a few days by the seaside in the summer watching the reds. Can we play them in May instead, or would that be too difficult for us as they'll be fighting relegation?  ::)

As was mine about wanting Brighton away in August, only to be told we're better off playing them in December.

I want them in December with bad weather so the players don't dehydrate.
I also hope there is nothing fun to do there, don't want the players to get distracted :D

Be a good one for you lot, we've started slowly for a few seasons now.

The one benefit of not being top 4 is less 'adjusted' kickoffs, was absolutely sick of the 12:30pm ones this season we kept getting.

I'd be happy with a newly promoted team, I always think they start like they are flying, and it's brilliant to see the crowds in full flow before the inevitable relegation battle quashes the optimism.

True. It's not really all that different from being in the Champions League in that respect but the constant talk of how much worse it is must have an effect on the mentality of the players. The worst thing is the long wait and watching on a Saturday whilst other teams around you play and usually win. Saying that, we weren't in Europe last season and still hardly ever seemed to play on Saturday!
We have to change from doubter to believer. Now.

Arsenal will be in the first 5 fixtures. I'm sure of it.

If they aren't, I think we'll play them both at home and away in the following 33 games. You can quote me on that.

All but 1 of the past 8 seasons, we have played a team that wear red and white on the first day.  Sunderland, Stoke, Southampton and Arsenal.  West Brom (lost 3-0) in 2012 was the only team who didn't wear red and white.
In fact since 2004 (13 seasons), only 4 teams have not worn red and white.  Spurs (twice), Aston Villa and West Brom.

My guess would still be Away for the first fixture as the club is putting in new under soil heating equipment and relaying a new pitch.
